Considering we haven't got any trailers or advertising at all, I doubt it's coming out in 2012.
That's just because Max Payne 3 is Rockstar's current focus.
They should really improve the wanted system, for example: -SWAT teams can fastrope down from choppers again like in SA. -Instead of driving like retards, the cops try to get you off the road without actually destroying their own car and try to box you in and set up roadblocks and spike strips. -If you enter a building on high wanted levels, the cops set up a perimeter and place sniper teams in the area before sending in SWAT with riot shields and flashbangs and all that. -On 6 stars, instead of the army they hire a private military company to take you down. They had the Gruppe6(heheh) in IV,right? Maybe those guys evolve into a full blown PMC. Like, the cops are nowhere to be seen for a while and you start to think that they gave up, suddenly black SUVs or choppers show up and start unloading mercs with the best weapons in the game and a lot of health. If you don't have a gun in your hand and stay still, you get the usual surrender animation where you drop to your knees and the mercs surround you. From there you can choose to either go to jail or pay them so they tell the cops that you're dead and boom, your wanted level's back to zero. Would be pretty fitting to the "DOSH" theme they're going with, right? They should also improve the customization part. At least a Saints Row 3-sized selection of clothes and the ability to work out(or eat metric fucktons of junk food and get fat)and get a haircut would be awesome. Car and weapon customization would also be nice. And the ability to take human shields like in Saints Row.
Fixed.
Nice!!
To be fair, the leaked music is only 1:25 minutes long, so it's probably harder to feel any character from it. Unless you were referring to the "long version" which is just a loop of the original. Also, I doubt it is going to be the game's main theme. The original video labelled it as a "trailer music". [editline]8th April 2012[/editline] I guess it's gonna be just like the Portal 2 Want You Gone leak when everyone thought it was crappy and all and praised it after the release (assuming LS Mob is not a fake).
funny thing is, now that I listen to it again, I kinda like it... [editline]9th April 2012[/editline] also as much as i'd love for them to release it this year, I have my doubts still hoping though. but eh, time goes so fast these days, by the time it comes out i'll be finished with this school year either way so it'll be fine
I like everything you said except with the private military company.. How realistic is that? IMO it's not realistic at all..The army/national guard makes more sense
That's not realistic either. They wouldn't send an army/national guard just for one person.
I dunno, if that guy had killed the entire population of LA twice over i'd rather they send the national guard then just keep wasting the police
I always thought a lot of the stupidity of the cops was intentional. I don't know about now, but I remember an interview with one of the lead developers of the first game saying that the completely insane police AI was actually intentional, and inspired by a glitch in the AI earlier in testing. I actually wouldn't mind at all if they played into the satirical portrayal of law enforcement and went balls-out with the wanted levels this time round, although I'm probably just saying that because I want to be able to drive a Rhino again.
I think all that is stupid, keep it as it is, with some minor improvements. I like the idea of paying someone to get benefits (involving the police or not), cops fastroping down from their helis, and the appearance part, though.
Well the ante needs to be upped somehow. I can barely even tell the difference between 5 stars and 6 in GTA IV besides there just being more of the same dudes on 6 stars. You'd think by the time one dude has wiped out literally hundreds of cops and SWAT officers, they'd at least try to adapt a bit to the situation instead of throwing more people who will inevitably fail at their mission at the problem. Or maybe that's the satirical point of the AI to begin with, hell if I know.
I'm pretty sure the AI will definitely be ante'd-up. Like, they're not just going to continually improve the engine (-> RDR -> MP3), then, for some reason, decide to reuse the old, outdated GTA IV revision. The idea of enemies trying to force you out of cover in Max Payne 3 is glorious.
I like everything you said except with the private military company.. How realistic is that? IMO it's not realistic at all..The army/national guard makes more sense
I dont know, hiring a PMC to ice the psycho who just slaughtered half of LSPD makes a lot more sense in the corrupt GTA world than bothering the army or national guard with just one guy. Maybe the PMC could start sending tanks and attack choppers if you kill enough mercs. And since when have GTA games wanted to be 150% ~ULTR4 REAL1ST1K LIEK C0WAD00DY~?
If the rumors about the Southern San Diego part are true it might make sense that in corrupt Mexico you'd get military trucks and stuff at lower wanted levels and it starts to mix with a PMC at the highest ones.
As long as I have a fast car, avoiding the police with a 6-star level is piss easy. Trying to fight them off, I get rusty, but only because I have a habit of not taking it seriously, and just charging in with a shotgun and no body armour. I found the style of police in GTA IV to be hilarious, how they would literally drive towards me, and try to swerve their car to make a make-shift blockade. Like someone said, a full on wall blockade would be awesome, making me actually have to turn around, instead of being able to easily charge through. I wanna still be able to say FUCK YOUR TANKS, but feel accomplished for it, because shit man, you just said "fuck you" to their tanks. GTA IV, you just drive and say FUCK YOUR VANS, and that's it, forgetting about plowing through easily.
I personally thought that the blatant stereotypes and copies of real life cars in GTAIV were fucking brilliant but the cars just seemed like they either had too floaty suspensions or were just generally underpowered I'd be glad if rockstar just upped the engine power and tightened up the suspensions a bit on most cars [editline]9th April 2012[/editline] Also GTA is a satire I dunno why people take it like it's supposed to be realistic all the time
I liked the 500% increase in luxury sedans.
Also GTA is a satire I dunno why people take it like it's supposed to be realistic all the time
To be fair, that's kind of Rockstar's fault. Not that I don't appreciate them going the realistic route and polishing the hell out of the city, but they tried to go the realistic/subtle route with the general city liveliness, the cars, the physics, and even the narrative. Meanwhile, every pedestrian and voiced radio ad speaks every line with thick sarcasm, and you get advertisements for Dragon Brain and E-Cola everywhere, which are more in the vein of the unsubtle, hamfisted satire that was in the old games. Not that I don't think that the tones can work together, but in GTA IV, they really don't. This is especially apparent when the missions for GTA IV are so held down by the "subtlety" and realism of the narrative that they're too afraid to stray past "Go here while talking to passenger, have scripted chase sequence where your bullets don't matter but the passenger keeps bugging you to shoot the person your chasing, go into building only designed to even be populated for that one mission, shoot people spawned in designated areas, steal generic vehicle, drive to designated position while passenger drops more exposition on you while trying to get away from the cops that keep blatantly spawning 10 meters away from you because oh no you bumped into someone with your car in front of an officer.", rinse and repeat. Thankfully, they seem to have learned their lesson from that with TBoGT, and even TLAD played more into the gritty realism which ultimately worked out pretty well. Hopefully GTA V can also strike a decent balance without letting realism get in the way. At the very least, they should really not ever have any scripted car chases. I know some of the other games had that kind of thing (Fuck you San Andreas this motherfucking perverted priest in a limo should not be going faster than my fucking sports car), but it's still a terrible decision in any game, especially when you basically encourage the player to waste bullets on what may as well be a wall. tl;dr, my theory as to the main reason most people think it should be more "realistic" sometimes is because GTA IV didn't really make it clear if it wanted to be gritty and realistic or silly and satirical, and the two tones only slightly overlapped, so it causes a bit of confusion amongst people.
I disagree, these two tones being together is the whole point of the game's atmosphere. It was exactly like this in the previous games, it just doesn't feel like it, because GTA IV is a modern game, and there's a lot more thought involved in it, while Vice City and San Andreas were simpler, and thus the whole concept was easy to grasp.

I say it's Rockstar's "fault", but they still intended it to be that way, except the leaned for a more realistic tone in GTA IV which somehow led a lot of people to think that they should make more things realistic. My rant about IV's missions was more than a bit off-topic, but still, I did feel like the heavier emphasis on realism held it back.

He works in Rockstar Games as Game Artist. He was developing vehicles for GTA Vice City, San Andreas and GTA IV too. On his CV it clearly states GTA V releases 10/2012 Also there is a Xbox mag saying the same thing. that GTA V is out in october, Just like we leaked too a couple days ago. See pic below
If major plot details were leaked, somebody who saw the leak would probably say what they are. Also if these guys also run the forums, then it isn't related to a leak.
It's a small feature but I'd love to see the camera from San Andreas return. One of my favourite activities in SA was driving around in a camper van with some grove street members and take photos of them in front of SA landmarks after I discovered they react to the camera :v: I was really disappointed with the phone camera in IV.
I never used the Camera in San Andreas. [editline]4th June 2012[/editline] anyone have a complete GTASA save file I can use? Or at least every area unlocked.
Oh look another fake GTA5 map http://www.gtaforums.com/index.php?showtopic=512111&st=0 Its one of the better fakes.
Oh look another fake GTA5 map http://www.gtaforums.com/index.php?showtopic=512111&st=0 Its one of the better fakes.
It looks tiny for some reason. Like one of the neighborhoods in GTA IV.
It looks tiny for some reason. Like one of the neighborhoods in GTA IV.
Yeah, thats smaller than GTA3: San Andreas. Also, why would somebody leak an image that looks like that? It looks impractical, meaning, if it were real, it would have already been specifically edited for leaking. So obviously faked that I don't even know why they tried.
