Definitely a game, the animations are too bad to be an... animation. It isn't on the rage engine though, that much is obvious.

tbh I think you're just examining too much. The game isn't finished yet, so they probably haven't polished the graphics. The models of the trees in the background would obviously bee less detailed than the ones in the foreground. And I don't see why it would be a movie set. Rockstar says there are going to be mountains so I think it would be stupid of them to just show us a set instead of the real ones. It wouldn't make sense and when the game comes out and everyone realises that it was a set they would be like fuck, rocstar trolled us.

I can guarantee that this game is going to be good and I'm gonna lose at least 200 hours in it.
Christmas 2012 feels like a Rockstar timeframe to me. I'm sure we'll get a new trailer any day now with a bit more information to feed on.

because probably as soon as you make your character trip and fall he hits his head, dies immediately and the game respawns you at the safehouse before you can even take a glimpse of the corpse tumbling down the mountain.

I hope we get some of the RPG features from san andreas, the clothing system too. Also want to be able to enter more buildings other then safe houses and restaurants.

From what I've seen Mount Chilliad may very well be one of those places that's simply fun to look at and explore. Like the Zone from STALKER, or the Dead City from Metro. Driving down it might be a nice experience whether you're on a road or not if Rockstar play their cards right in mapping it.
The most important thing we need is Lazlow to make a appearance of course.

I can't really remember a GTA releasing in Christmas. I'd say October at the latest. The marketing kicking up around/after MP3's release.
Hope there's a bar somewhere up high on the mountain, or at least some way to get drunk and tumble to your certain death

I'm hoping there are actual interiors this time, and not just doors that open directly. The door thing is a lot cooler and more realistic, but is not cool if you wan't to make a mod with say every house enter-able and what not.
what if all the race tracks that went up mount chilliad were old and abandoned? that'd be freaky

If it was forced, yes, but a view from inside of the car would be a bit more immersive if it was added to one of the camera modes (which GTA games tend to have a lot of).

I watch the trailer almost every day. And every time, my mind is blown.
Guys, when this is released, this is going to be epic. Simply epic. Hell, I'm proud of living in the same city that Rockstar North is in. It's the proudest thing I can literally think of, past history means nothing.
This will open up a new era in gaming.
