Also seriously this is Gamespot. They intentionally rigged this contest. the /b/ub & /b/ob thing obviously started because Gamspot is a bunch of biased liars. (And trolling but whatever.)
As one who hates fandom (even Valve fandom), I particularly am impressed with how far Bob & Bob have gotten. That's not to say I think Samus deserves to be beaten by them, Metroid is by no means a bad series. But it's always nice to see an irritating fanbase get crushed.
Although Yoshi already got destroyed by Gordon. I suppose that's enough. I would have preferred Mario losing horribly but whatever. I guess a few raged Nintendrones are better than nothing.

Actually Gamespot's Bias applies to any game that's part of a major franchise or developed by a successful company. It doesn't matter what games you make, it's how much you can pay them that matters. (And they do an awful job covering their bias up.)
In other words: The bias toward Snake is negligibly small. The only characters that were supposed to be doomed from the start were the "forgettable classics" like Bub/Bob, Little Mac, Pac-Man, Yoshi (though he does have a lot of VERY clingy fans.) and "one hit wonders" like the GTA guy who's name I can't remember. It's the fact that fanboys ignore everything and vote for the guy made by their overlords (one of the reasons why I hate all fanbases). And in this case Sony/Konami still has the upper hand. Barely.

Nintendo is not only dominating the industry right now, meaning Gamespot will suck up to no end, but it has one of the biggest, clingiest, most idiotic fanbases in existence thanks to its sheer size and its age bringing lots of players who've been blinded by nostalgia and still think Super Mario Bros 3 can't be topped.
However this contest is ultimately rigged for Mario. Which is kinda sad since he's a pretty mediocre character when compared to some of the characters that were born after him. Mario really hasn't changed very much since he was an 8-bit character.
