Yeah, this is about the greatest hero, not the one with the biggest fanbase. Mario's actually a very mediocre character. As I said, Nintendo really should have thought before they gave one of their most lifeless characters a cheerful, energetic voice. It works for Luigi, though. Mainly because he actually has a personality.
I mean imagine if Gordon shouted excitedly every time he jumped or swung his crowbar. That wouldn't sound right at all would it?
