Eh, I'd love Link to win, but if he dosen't it's not like it's the end of the world. That's the difference between me and the butthurters, I won't lose any sleep if Link loses, I just prefer him over Freeman.
And it's not just 7-year olds, it's 20-year olds who've grown up with the series.

Mario has been around since donkey kong, they pretty much showed up at the same time. Then Mario and Luigi got their own game, simply titled "Mario Brothers". Most people know the story from there on.
I grew up with mario so don't get me wrong I think he's a great game hero, but it's been so long since anyone else has had top dog spot it's almost sad. I didn't vote the Freeman because Mario has been #1 for so long, thats just opinion. I voted Gordon because for one dude who woops so much ass at such a pace that almost makes your head spin is the kind of game hero that has EARNED the right to called Greatest Game Hero of All Time.
Also, did anyone else notice that Bub and Bob from bubble bobble beat Sonic The Headghog by like, one percent?
