Please look at OP, I found a interesting message from a GameSpot user
Yes I agree, but I remember when it was in the beta stages, Valve had marketed it as a free-run. I am not saying it's bad that it was linear, I think it contributed greatly to what made Half-life 2 a great game and its atmosphere, I just think that if you're going to tell me Mario has bad games and compare them to Gordon's games, you probably shouldn't be saying Mario's games are too linear since someone could just as easily counter that with Half-life 2.
Who said that Mario games were linear? If I remember it right, SMB1 had secondary routes in almost every map. And...well... technically, maybe back at the BETA stages it was free-run. Just look at the concepts of beta Wasteland, arctic and C17. They all looked like large, empty areas(except C17) with some stuff here and there that you was supposed to go to. Now, would you rather like action packed game with less routes and events, or a rather empty game with massive maps and little amount of combat, that is still marked as FPS?
Fuck yes, Freeman is kicking Mario's ass
18967 votes ahead... Some things never change... this number probably never won't through the whole contest.

I usually think "Free roam" is a code word for "the illusion that you're giving the player a choice when you're actually not." It also means "crappy story" and "directionless." Which Half-life is not and I'm glad Valve didn't go with what they originally marketed.

I come bearing the gifts of idiocracy! :downs:
MARIO rescued the mushroom kingdom countless times ! what mr freegirl did was a bit less awesome!!!!
:hurr:
Please click on the link below, to see a Video of Gordon Freemen in his early days' before Black Mesa. Please watch the complete video. thanks. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZJhPMIVgF6c
:wtc: Is that Gordon? (1:05)
I still can't believe the chief didn't make it, I mean seiously? Who would have thought master chief wouldn't make it to the semi-finals?
He got raped by 4chan. Sorry buddy Also, a little late to the party.
I wonder how this guy (Gordon) made it to the finals and not someone like Leon S.K., Master Chief, Dante, Link, Snake, Ryu Hayabusa, Cloud S., Mega Man, Link, Alucard, Ryu or Duke Nukem.... remember people, this is "ALL TIMES Greatest Game Hero"... =S what a shame.
Hurp! :v:
Response from nintendo: Hello, On behalf of Nintendo, thank you for your request. Our famous super hero, Mario, has won many awards during his career. While this would be a great award to add to his resume, Nintendo will not interfere with the fan's vote. Thank you again for contacting Nintendo. Have fun with your games, and remember the best play here! You see it says 'has won many awards during his career'. so they just don't care about the poll. but they care about making great game and it's enough for me.
I'm pretty sure Valve noticed the threads being made, checked the contest and decided on the whole advertising thing. Nintendo's attitude? "Yea, we got like... so many awards, we had to build another shed in the back by the dumpster to fit them. We need the room, so we aren't gonna pull any stunts or shit with this contest..." And my favorite:
Who the **** is this *** hole, i've never heard of him, and he's beating the best video game hero, MARIO, MARIO, MARIO, MARIO, MARIO, MARIO, MARIO, MARIO, MARIO, MARIO, MARIO, MARIO, MARIO, MARIO, MARIO, MARIO, MARIO, MARIO, MARIO, MARIO, MARIO, MARIO, MARIO, MARIO, MARIO, MARIO, MARIO, MARIO, MARIO, MARIO, MARIO, MARIO, MAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRIIIIIIIIIOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO AAAAAAALLLLLLLLLL TTTTTTTTTTTTHHHHHHHHHHHHEEEEEEEEEE WWWWWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYY!
:pseudo:
Oh god that last one
Oh god that last one
He got ass-raped with thumb-downs :v:
Like I said, you are doing a real good job if you have to save someone and the whole kingdom about 20000-COUNTLESS FUCKING TIMES. How about you actually put some effort, or don't half-ass it. Of course, the reason why enemies there are easy is because that boss has ADD, and wants to makes shit harder for himself and his minions. While in HL2, they might have done some shit that sets them back, but mostly, they targeted you and actually tried to kill you(by that, I mean instead of half-assing it, they try to fucking kill you).
Somebody go on gamespot and post this for me. "Alright assfucks, Gordon Freeman first game was released in 1998, and won some good game of the year rewards. Not everyone loves Mario or Link just because they were fucking alive for 20 years." I'm not sure if I got the game of the year reward part right.
A character's longevity has nothing to do with this contest.
Gordon isn't young either. It's been over 10 (11?) years.

Sorry bud :frown:
I think to stop people hyperventilating when the percentages start to get close, for those of you who haven't worked it out yet, the Percentage doesn't show accurately who's winning by how much. For instance, If Freeman had 30,000 votes and Mario had 15,000 votes, then the percentage would be 66%:33%. A few days later though, the votes tally up to 60,000 and 45,000. Now the percentage is different, but the vote gap is still the same.

"Liberty iron crowbar"?
Mario seems to catch up. Valve should do another Steam announcement.
Gordon is still winning thankfully :w00t:
"Liberty iron crowbar"?
Statue hero bird drink. Duh.
Mario seems to catch up. Valve should do another Steam announcement.
No, actually, we are pwning mario. Hard. From 10000-14000 votes diff we have nearly 20000 more votes than mario. Check first posts why % makes you think wrong
Freemans Crowbar? [editline]12:28AM[/editline] :saddowns:

People complained about them all the time at that forum I mentioned earlier. They probably forsaw this and thought "I'm not wasting my time making a campaign for a character that already makes me insane amounts of money!" And did that to keep the fanboys quiet.

So Mario's a hero because he saves the princess ? I've got an idea to save him some trouble "Palace Guards"
So Mario's a hero because he saves the princess ? I've got an idea to save him some trouble "Palace Guards"
Toads. Besides the entire Mushroom Kingdom would be better off if they just turned against Peach and had a Democratic Revolution.
What happened to that 100 or so thousand people that voted freeman over link?
What happened to that 100 or so thousand people that voted freeman over link?
The Steam Army is still there, but is progressing slowly. Gap is 19500 votes and is changing positively or negatively.
I don't know why but almost every time I visit that page I have an ability to vote for Freeman. Of course I do so.
Here's a comic about yesterday that I totally forgot to post in this thread. Yes, I misspelled "mobilized". Vote gap is over 19600!
