I would assume thats what the .dylib files are.
Steam on Linux? Awesome. Valve has finally done what I have only dreamed of, they unified the computers into one, single, entity. Bravo VALVe, bravo.
Valve has OFFICIALLY removed the argument "X Operating System can't play games".
Let use Winders users use OpenGL now you fucks :argh:
Or I will wait patiently.
I am unsure if it would increase my already crappy framerate, but the option for it would be nice.
Interesting to see Linux support coming after all. If id is still working with steam they can put up their linux/mac versions of quake 3/doom 3.
Does anybody know when more Valve games are coming to Mac?

Every Wednesday of the following weeks.

So do you only get to place one portal?
For anyone that has Portal on Mac:
Is your audio working? I cant hear anything.

Macs have both right and left click.
Macs have both right and left click.
But there's only 1 button, unless you buy a seperate mouse that has both.
no, it has both buttons.

It looks like 1 but you can right and left click with it.
hurr macs have no rite cleek
stop.
stop.
It's actually a legitimate question. From what I know, the basic Mac mouse only has 1 button, while it has an option button on the keyboard. So what exactly do you do? Do you need to hold the option key while clicking?
I mean there's even a guide saying how to "right click" with a mac mouse.

While yes the newer "Mighty mouse" has a right click, I'm talking about the older mouse that only has 1 button.
wow, you're clueless.
1. that article is stupid, 2007 and still using the OLD single button mouse
2. google the Mighty Mouse and Magic Mouse
3. anyone who games on a Mac would have the brains to buy a newer Mouse or a 3rd Party mouse
4. welcome to 2010

I'm sorry I don't keep up to date with a platform I don't use nor particularly care about? In my opinion, I've always though of Mac computers as school computers or media (movies, art, etc) computers, while a PC is for games and blue collar office work. Note that I don't hate Mac computers, but I've never thought of gaming as one of their strong points. Again, I've always considered them mostly as media development computers.
sorry if I seemed to come off rude, but the whole "LOL MACS DON'T HAVE RIGHT CLICK" thing just really annoys me. I've been using Macs all my life (not an insane MacFag) and I really didn't ever thing of gaming on a Mac until Boot Camp was released (except WoW) so the whole Steam for Mac thing is a big deal to me.
I just got my first PC back in November of 2009.
If you still have a Mac mouse that only has 1 button, there are only two solutions:
1. Kill yourself for living under a rock
2. Buy new mouse.
I'm surprised there aren't more people in here freaking out about the Linux confirmation that we all already "knew" was coming anyway.

Kind of an easy step, since OSX and Linux are close enough related now, right?
I'm surprised there aren't more people in here freaking out about the Linux confirmation that we all already "knew" was coming anyway.
Because it isn't a confirmation at all.
There is still no word from Valve about the subject.
I'll keep my fireworks until they say/release anything.
Damnit, Intel macs only
I wanted to use my old mac to run steam but I guess I'll have to wait for the linux version to come out

3. Map Secondary fire to different key.

Unban my IP address on CS-Nation.

Somehow I think the linux version will be x86/64 only, it won't be ported to PowerPC which is what the older Macs use, too much of an effort to compile for older hardware. It's not like VALVe are going to release the sourcecode for their games so you can compile it on any platform :v:

What are you talking about? That article specifically states that Valve said there is a Linux version coming in a few months.
Valve has also confirmed that it will make steam available to linux users in the coming months.
Last line of the article, right there.
@Bob: Why? When you post as a guest on my site, your IP is still visible. You very obviously were one of the trolling guests I had IP banned in the past week.

I am not a troll - I was merely telling you to post on Twitter.
Zips seems to have Women issues, his twitter is a great indicator of that. :banjo:

Except that Valve never did confirmed it. There hasn't been any word or statement whatsover from Valve themselfs, only from that UK newspaper which doesn't provide a source.

Valve isn't a source? Hm.. ok then?
