Hi, I play this game.
I main Lux with no specific 'build' in mind. Is that a bad thing?

actually thornmail > randuins, since you're reducing MR they take more from thornmail
Rylai's on nunu slows stack and it's AP tankiness.

oh
well you don't want to build nunu pure ap since your team is going to think youre a tank
since your ult is 2:1 you wanna get ap but not a lot, you need to survive

rod of ages first always.
abyssal scepter is a great item on close range magic damage dealers, itll make your ult hit really hard and also give you beef
banshees veil is REQUIRED on nunu, tons of people will silence/stun/knockup you while you're ulting which breaks your ult and you get no damage off.
you're heavy on the MR so here get thornmail - it gives a lot of armor while also doing magic damage to people who attack you - since you reduce their MR with abyssal this is double good
after these 4 items get whatever you need, if you need more AP get either a lich bane or zhonyas
if you need more armor, glacial shroud is great
if you need more nuke, get deathfire grasp
if you need more tank and you need to win teamfights get randuins omen

Hmmm... I like tankiness tbh. He's by far my favourite tank.
I usually stay in lane for a while, at least till I have enough for boots.
I usually lane with my friend who does kayle.
Anyway: Starting item: Mana manipulator, meki if your lanemate has no mana (Energy or manaless)
You don't need HP pots because you'll get your heal as your second or third spell and you spam it because of your regen.
For boots go Mobility, and then get a sheen. Alistar is the most innately tanky champ in LoL, so you'll still be able to tank just fine with your heal and ult. After that go Aegis, and then get B veil or FoN for MR and get Glacial shroud for the Armour and CDR, which is good on Ali. If the game is really long, I suppose you can get Rylais because of the AP tankiness and because it'll apply a slow to headbutt, but I usually build full tank except for sheen.

0/9/21 masteries, preferably. The CDR for flash is especially important because it's your initiation.
The standard combo is to figure out who you want dead, then flash onto him/her, Q, and then headbutt them into your team.
