best solution: target their squishies first, chances are that it's them that are owning you, and not the tank. your bursty damage and snare will also melt them quickly.
if you really want to take down tanks, get a deathfire grasp, it's amazing on ryze imho.
Watch the fight start. Count to 10. Then go in and release madness.

I'm Alph4lisk and I think Blitzcrank is just a great hero. Dunno why it's 6300 IP though.
Almost think it's overpowered tbh. The manashield when you drop under 200 HP is super useful and the Rocket Hand that can grab people behind terrain is extremely good for starting ambushes.

It's not just the tanks. Late in the game i just become useless because i can't seems to do enough damage to other level18s. Tanks are the bane of my existence though.

anyways, i want to think of a new build for him, perhaps an AP build? my friends have told me it can work if you use Q enough.
my main build for backdoor yi-
berserkers
starks
stack phantom dancers/zeals and black cleavers until match ends
i also have started a different playstyle with him, when i first started playing as him i usually put my first point into Q, but now i focus on maxing E and W first, with a point in E at the beginning.
i can't farm as well with this style early-game, but i can lane longer, save MP, and it keeps me alive, which is good.
distracting a whole team with level 5 meditate is pretty boss.
