I've been wanting this game for a while now, not sure if Amazon is the only way to get it or not.
Also, how would you say this compares to Colin McRae Rally?
you will be in for painful start really, but when you get the hang of it its so much fun
A few years, but not consistently, that was the first time i played after about 2 months. i used to be really good at it, trying to get back into it again, i really freaking love it
same here, just installed it again yesterday and it remembered me that i made this thread
i used to be really good as well
Completely unrelated. iRacing is a road racing game, RBR is a rally sim.

There needs to be a GIF of 1:52, that geniunely made me laugh.
i hate those fuckers, sometimes they just ruin a perfect stage
There needs to be a GIF of 1:52, that geniunely made me laugh.
If you'd care to make it... i'm no good at making gifs. And those assholes are ALWAYS getting in the way. In one of the USA stages where there is a MASSIVE fucking jump, i've had those idiots be RIGHT on the landing area and they don't get out of the way because i'm falling out of the fucking sky at 170 fucking kph.
Also note that in that video i have no handbrake because i modded my logitech momo and i have no buttons other than the gearshifter

Let me answer that with a question: do you have a steering wheel? because if not: fuck no.
if yes: go right ahead, but you will hate yourself for many many hours until you start getting the hang of it, and even then it'll be a while until you can do the shit i did in that video, and in that i was doing pretty bad.
On a sidenote, anyone up to download RSBR 2012 and have ourselves an Inter-FP rally?

No, really? Wondered why I paid for a 3-month subscription to iRacing thinking it was a rally game..
I just mean if you like RBR for the challenge you'd appreciate iRacing. Similar engine I think?
iRacing IS related because it also is a sim. True, it's NOT a rally sim, but I feel the two play similarly but of course being different motorsports. It's used by real road racers in real life and even a former F1 driver because the tracks are 100% identical due to being laser scanned.
Was just suggesting to fans of RBR as they'd appreciate it, even with the subscription.

I can't play iracing because fuck that shit, i have better things to spend 25$ a month on. And it's different because to racing on road and on dirt requires a fair bit of a different physics system because of the way the cars respond, it'd take MONTHS for iracing's team to get a functional way of gravel rallying, mostly because of suspension response and tyre grip models, they juts don't have that kind of data on their hands. not yet at least, if they managed to add that kind of variety to the game, it might be worth it, but for 25$ a month road racing only... nah. when they expand and get to a final build though, i'll be glad to jump onboard because for what it is, their physics engine is absolutely fantastic and probably even better than RBR's
monthly subscription though...
monthly subscription though...
It has a damage rating, to prevent collisions being caused on purpose so you get put with people who want to race and not trolls.
Everyone is forced into cockpit view too and lots of people host competitions where you can win prizes or huge amount of iRacing credit. Furthermore, here are lots of organised racing series that form league tables, etc.
but still, the subscription man.

1 month = $12
3 months = $30 ($10 a month)
1 year = $99 ($8.25 a month)
2 years = $179 ($7.46 a month)
For the whole of July, they did have 50% off all new memberships which was neat.
BUT, at the moment they have a "buy 1 month, get 2 free" deal going on.
I can honestly say, for the price you pay, you actually get more than what you pay. Like you say though, you'd have to be into track racing for this.
but still, the subscription man.
But you get what you pay, being an online community based game (Offline games like RBR are perfect because of a modding community). It's great as they have combated piracy perfectly and has a dedicated team working all the time. The money from subscriptions goes back into the game to create more cars, laser scanned tracks, content and developing new features.
My problem is that i literally have no money to spare. i just springed 150 euros for a brand new G27 so i have jack shit left. maybe someday i'll spend a bit and give myself a 1 year sub

They recommend to buy 1 or 3 months first, in case it isn't for you. I currently own a G25. That and G27 are awesome! Money spent wisely.

What should i use to record properly? my videos with fraps are always split into bits.
i use fraps, pretty sure you can uncheck that option too
[editline]5th August 2012[/editline]
also, fuck japans stages, so narrow and tricky
i remember playing this way back but hating it because I couldn't use a 16:9 aspect ratio, can you still not do that?
i think you can with mods
and its really not that noticable when you play
Where is that option in fraps?
Also to change the resolution just go to the richardburnsrally config file and change the xres and yres to your resolution
that still doesnt work with 16:9

Well it's easy with Premiere Pro or Vegas if you have it. Otherwise WMM.
Cheers then. I'll get on to recording some stuff. My G27 gets here on friday, i'm itching to try the RSRBR classics with that h shifter

Oh, didn't notice, but i AM indeed into track racing, i just can't bloody afford the game. It's that simple. whenever i can however, i will because i tried the free week that insidesimracing gave out and i fucking loved it. (i'm a pretty good road racer, i'm not exactly spectacular at qualifying, but when it comes to overtaking and aggressive but careful driving, i'm very good)
Fuck yes my G27 is here, time to go play some RBR

I preferred LFS to iRacing and RBR.
One to watch is Project: Cars it's on a fantastic engine and the beta's are pretty mint (you can get into testing by donating at different stages, it's basically crowdsourced funding) and if you can model and do stuff like that, they'll throw your stuff into the game (if it's good enough) - If you donate 25,000 euros, you get a shit-ton of custom stuff, in-game advertising boards and can attend developer meetings.

iRacing is reeeeeeeeally head and shoulders above LFS when it comes to content and sheer physics and FFB quality. (that's not to say LFS is bad, it's fucking fantastic), iRacing really is the 'top dog' these days. Rally wise, until someone comes up with a game that looks as good as DiRT but with RBR's physics system, RBR is gonna remain the rally kind

When I got my G25, I couldn't put it down. I don't use it as much these days, maybe for the occasional F1 race with someone online. I need to get back into it.
I remember my uncle installed and cracked this game when we got our first PC, I didn't know anything about driving, so when I drove on Autiovaara, I just had the car in first gear and I had it floored all the way through the stage. Just a RRRRTRRRRRTRRRRRTRRRRRRTRRRRRRTRRRRRT for like 10 minutes straight.
