iRacing is reeeeeeeeally head and shoulders above LFS when it comes to content and sheer physics and FFB quality.
This is true but paying a subscription for a game isn't cool with me. LFS is great but nobody plays S2 anymore, they're all Blackwood demo servers or cruise servers.
iRacing is reeeeeeeeally head and shoulders above LFS when it comes to content and sheer physics and FFB quality. (that's not to say LFS is bad, it's fucking fantastic), iRacing really is the 'top dog' these days. Rally wise, until someone comes up with a game that looks as good as DiRT but with RBR's physics system, RBR is gonna remain the rally kind [editline]9th August 2012[/editline] I'm gonna constantly post content on here :v: can't let this die
You took a look at P:Cars? It's on the Dirt/NFS engine and they're re-writing the car handling and physics for realism. I'm sure rallying is on the cards for inclusion at some point.
sure hope so, cant wait for another game like RBR

Racing wheels so expensive All the cheap ones are just paddle shifters any cheap wheels with stick shift?? 6 speed?

Better physics, tires, graphics, etc. They release quarterly builds and one came out this week with a ton of features. It'd really only satisfy those who are into track racing and/or wants a fair race without people barging you off a track. I got one last year for £130 + shipping and it still works perfect to this day!

But i seriously can't drive from the inboard camera because the wheel onscreen is totally not in line with mine, and there's some pretty massive bugs still, maybe when i can spare the cash i'll buy into it, along with iRacing [editline]9th August 2012[/editline]
Racing wheels so expensive All the cheap ones are just paddle shifters any cheap wheels with stick shift?? 6 speed?
You can get a Driving Force GT new for 150$, it's very inexpensive for what it does, it has the same internals as the G25, but worse pedals. And note i bought the momo 7 years ago and the warranty ended 5 years ago. (it looks like this with the wheel from a 1974 Abarth Fiat 124 or 131 Mirafiore from Rally Portugal)

I don't mind all that much since I've got LFS as well. The one thing that bothers me about iRacing is the seriousness of it all. Sure it's great to get into a game with a dedicated and mature fanbase, but iRacing just seems way too involved and serious. You need to follow race schedules, there's the subscription, etc. Another major worry of mine is fucking up during a race. Of course I don't like playing racing games with people that just ram into your car or use your car to slow down for corners, but fucking up is something that always happens. I don't want to get chewed out just because I missed a braking point and nudged some guy's car. That's part of the reason why rallying is so interesting to me. It's just you and the track. Any mistake you made is purely your fault, but it's also more relaxing. You never have worry about another driver on the course. Eh seeing as the 3 month package is on sale, I'll probably splash into iRacing. The only problem is the scheduling thing; classes start on Monday, and I still haven't figured out my work schedule. It's the only thing really holding me back now.
eh, so I tried out RBR again, and my Fanatec GT2 wheel doesn't have any ffb in it... oh well.

A tip also is to not race to win until you get to a D license - just race cleanly to get up there.
Have you tried drivers and / or fiddling with the options? i just tried the G27 and it worked right out of the box just fine
to be honest with you, I didn't try much, just tried to fire up the game and everything worked till I tested the FFB, but I'm too tired to try any harder right now.
Racing wheels so expensive All the cheap ones are just paddle shifters any cheap wheels with stick shift?? 6 speed?
Just look hard and you might get lucky. We got our G25 for 80USD, and that was almost 2 years ago now, still works perfectly.

Someone should start a "general racing-sim discussion" megathread.
im not! [editline]10th August 2012[/editline] either that or rename this thread
I think having one general thread for racing games is a good idea.
I'm making it as we speak. I haven't progressed much because i'm an idiot and i let myself slip away into RBR with the G27 for hours and hours today, but i'll get to it asap [editline]10th August 2012[/editline] Also should i make it just for Sims or have ALL racing games? (within the normal spectrum, not counting wipeout and stuff like that)
good! [editline]10th August 2012[/editline] make it all racing games since i dont mind myself some dirt 1/3 from time to time or grid
This would be much better, i'll certainly be active in it. Maybe we can arrange some sort of championship :v:
I'd quite like if y'all got into rFactor or RS RBR's online, i'm always up for some nice clean racing
I'd quite like if y'all got into rFactor or RS RBR's online, i'm always up for some nice clean racing
I don't have rFactor 2 but I have the first one with 20GB worth of mods. I'll still get iRacing for my own accord, but it would be nice to get something like rFactor 2 or Project CARS when we can all decide what mods to use and what theme/era to run.
I have Rfactor and GTR2. But I only have a mediocre Xbox wheel with crappy pedals. I'm saving up for a G27 or G25. Also, I like the idea of a Facepunch racing tournament :v:
rsrbr would be fun

Make it a bit more appealing to look at.
