I suppose all of these large year values for things like nationalism and war debt are hinting at Paradox releasing an expansion (Or expansions) which continue the timeline well into the Cold War like they did with HoI2. Once that comes, these things could become a more interesting part of gameplay. Lent Germany a heap of cash when war broke out and they lost the war? I'd like to see them pay that back and not become massively weakened again.

Won't stop modders though.

Yeah the revolt system isn't perfect. With the amount of province using garrisons or police units becomes useless. Playing rebel whack-a-mole is the most tedious and boring thing ever. I think it should be abstracted. Leave the actual units for major uprisings (and make them stronger) but otherwise have partisans abstracted. Perhaps a manpower loss in provinces with partisan activity or attrition from units in those provinces to simulate fighting small scale partisans. Also perhaps a loweing of infrastructure level to simulate bombing bridges/roads etc. As it is the partisan system is tedious and frustrating when you have a decent sized country.

Chapter three: No rest for the west [b]June 1938[/b] The 1st Peruvian Army is back in Peru, over half a year after after the victory in Australia. Within a day of our victory there uprisings already beginning in the country, we had no time to deal with such things and made Australia a puppet state. Communism comes to South America! Checking diplomacy I see my new puppet state has joined the Soviets as well. I still decide to make Norway and Sweden into puppet states anyway, with little loss of my industrial capacity. [img]http://img6.imageshack.us/img6/9586/64835252.jpg[/img] We'll declare war on them, and because Portugal is with us now they'll attack them, leaving me to move into their ports and head for Madrid. However the Spanish navy assaults our ships as they land. And everything but a single transport boat is destroyed. They land on the shore with no resistance and Spain surrenders. French and yugoslav partisans (both interestingly led by communist anti-fascists) were the strongest, most organized, and most effective rebels of the war (aside from soviet partisans, but they're not partisans in the same sense of being people trying to take their country back). Yet, none of them seized a town, city, or otherwise a province and declared it under their control. It wasn't feasible and it was suicidal. also crisis does your game ever freeze when you're loading a saved game?

Its fun to play with cheats and really alter history. I put on instant research, and I had nukes before 1937, so I slowly built my stockpile (and my army), and when Germany came a knocking to get into France (I was Belgium), I nuked the shit out of them. Fuck yeah.

That's one of the problems with the huge amount of provinces I reckon. The AI seems utterly incapable of actually defending them when they're not on the frontline, meaning you can do really gamey things like that.
