Remember that guy that claimed he was going to make a diamond statue for his girlfirend, but ended up just cheating in a few stacks of 64 diamond, but only using like 10 to make a diamond heart in the dirt?
I had told him that if
1. didnt cheat
or
2. cheated, but made something really big
it would have been better.
Either way you have to show effort. Make something small with rare materials, or make something awesome with cheap/hacked materials.

Oh hey it's been a really long time since I posted in this thread, so I thought I'd drop some stuff here, but first some backstory.
So I play on a server with a couple of buddies, and we've grown a bit bored on just building magnificent buildings. We don't want to play with creeps however, since it makes it go noticeably slower on the server, and it just isn't fun when you can fight creeps without annoying lag issues.
We still wanted some danger though, so we decided to play out some PvP, and we went with the idea of two castles pitting against eachother, trying to take over the other teams flag.
It started out with an idea of just having two simple castles that people had to fight through, but we wanted more so we decided to let each team build a gigantic castle and have a piece of cotton as the flag that the other team must capture. Here is the castle (currently building) of team red.

You should get a couple of friends and create a server, it's extremely easy and we've been doing some fighting before (I posted an arena in an earlier thread) and it worked perfectly fine, and this was before notch fixed a couple of issues (such as lag).

Afaik Profanewolf runs a pretty good server, ask for permission to host an event (two teams, two castles, capture the cotton deathmatch) and get some players to do it.

Exactly. I think that if you're INVediting because you're lazy you suck, but if you're INVediting or MCEditing to make amazing things, it's perfectly fine.
