I don't listen to short looped beats, But I do listen to some Pink Floyd Or blue train while I wait during the night. For some reason Jessica by the Allman brothers makes me build a lot faster.

I don't try to get dragged into the drama (since I'm not involved in the first place) but I do wish it was more like around the times when the streams were all over the place, Me, Inzuki, Zesty etc. That time will always be the point that stands out for me as emcompasing what minecraft is truly about. The thread was full of interesting things people had made and insightful comments and discussions I loved every minute of it and dedicated lots of time to the game it was just everyone enjoying the game in their own way. But now, I feel lucky to get maybe a few scraps of enjoyment from other peoples work and accomplishments...
Also I don't resent the popularity, just wish I wasn't having nostalgia about a game I've owned for 6 months...
