I was playing on Nerdy's server, and after looting this guy's cave/mine of all its precious minerals, I came upon a offshoot cave that was only accessable via a 20-30 block straight shaft. I climbed up this shaft, and was greeted with a massive network of unexplored caves. As I went through them, I kept finding shitloads of iron as usual. When I finally decided it was enough, I was lost. Completely. I kept finding offshoots and more goddamn offshoots, that seemed to go on endlessly. FINALLY after about 10 minutes of searching I find a tiny little 2x1 hole that leads up through a shitload of sand. When I get out, I find myself in a barely-subsurface cavern I had been in a while ago. The problem was, this place was about a 20 minute WALK from that guys mine entrance. Later, I glimpsed through a unloaded chunk. It was a fucking city down there. Caves as far as the eye could see, and I could briefly notice some torches dotted around. Also this. [img_thumb]http://filesmelt.com/dl/2011-01-11_20.22_.14_.png[/img_thumb] I gathered up 56 blocks of iron ore. No doubt if I had continued exploring I would have found, much, MUCH more. Let this serve as a notice that Nerdy's server is home to the biggest cave system I've seen since early, early alpha.
That server's IP is 209.236.124.215 , right? I'm being told that's an unknown host. Dammit. I wanna see this. Edit: it works now.
Woooooooooow. In the last week I've gone through three fucking servers because they all shut down the day after I join and after I do a couple hours of building.
That server's IP is 209.236.124.215 , right? I'm being told that's an unknown host. Dammit. I wanna see this.
Try Mineville.net
Can your skin be completely transparent?
Can your skin be completely transparent.
No
So do you have to have x amount of pixels? Like this guy http://nuclear-gaming.net/skin/skin.php?username=Bletotum
Anybody have a server I can join?
So do you have to have x amount of pixels? Like this guy http://nuclear-gaming.net/skin/skin.php?username=Bletotum
It doesn't matter how many pixes you have, all transparent pixels will show up black in game.
I'm afraid of postin my server on this thread afraid of greifers :ohdear:
Whats with the artistic spam M4 Sherman. :creepy:
I'm afraid of postin my server on this thread afraid of greifers :ohdear:
i posted my server's ip up on this thread, i didnt get anyone that griefed at all, and they were all cool and helpful i mean FlakTheMighty just went and looked for ores for me, to help me finish mah house (he was the one that found diamond on the surface :v:)
i posted my server's ip up on this thread, i didnt get anyone that griefed at all, and they were all cool and helpful
Oh cool. Well i'll just link it then :buddy: ps360minecraft.dynDNS.info And i track everyone's move, so don't do anything silly like hurt someone or plant tnt
I think I'll post my server info post update, seeing as hMod will break for at least 8 hours, and who knows if we get to transition to Bukkit early or what.
Oh cool. Even if they already griefed you can rollback that part of the map that you specify.
yea i have worldguard/worldedit so i think im safe
Sherman, feeling artsy today? [editline]11th January 2011[/editline]
yea i have worldguard/worldedit so i think im safe
Install GriefAlert, it tells you when certain blocks are used, who used them, and where.
Sherman, feeling artsy today? [editline]11th January 2011[/editline] Install GriefAlert, it tells you when certain blocks are used, who used them, and where.
Ok thanks

temporarily taking down the server to instal greifalert [editline]12th January 2011[/editline] and it's up :buddy:
Ok thanks
You might also consider Cuboid, so that you can select areas to protect from anyone but allowed players. This is a bit lengthy when you're getting used to it, but it can save you from hell and back if some asshat does get in, because everyone's stuff will have been protected prior.

Edit: Fuck it.
No need to get a million anti grief mods, all you need is, worldguard and logblock.
Although that's great if you have admins on frequently, and if you have a surplus of admins, there are a plethora of cases where this simply wouldn't cut it. I prefer preventing stuff from happening, as opposed to working to correct it afterwards. If I'm doing anti-grief, I've done something wrong as a server admin. This is why I like GriefAlert as a good middle-ground between the two. All online admins receive alerts of malicious activity, and activity that might be suspicious goes out as well, so it's a good middle-road stance. Either way, I'm rethinking a lot of the security I have the closer I get to opening my server to the public.
This is annoying. I have no friends who own Minecraft. So I have to play by myself. No plain (and private) SMP for me.
i flattened the awesome natural formation i found, constructed a small wooden house on it and made a tunnel down to ze mines. planning on building a small settlement :buddy:
