That, and most people either got a server to play on, or have a server of their own.
Like, I got 3 Minecraft servers.
Profan owns one of the most popular ones here on Facepunch.
I think Doomish hosts one, or did.
And about every 2nd person in this thread.
You might have better luck joining someone elses instead, seeing you're a bit late on the server front.
Also, here in central europe, Its 9 AM, people here are either asleep, waking up, on their way to school / work, or sitting on Facepunch from a school computer (The latter in my case)

LAN = Local Area Network, not what ever the :toot: you think it is.
Your dedicated server is a network in which you are only allowing people you know to play on. "People you know" constitutes a "local area" and they are on your "network". It is also a small network which bars outside connections from unknown sources.
