Has tool durability been increased? I have used my iron pickaxe 100 times now (yes, I've been counting) and the durability bar is still at about 2/3.
180 uses now and it still hasn't broken. Iron pickaxe durability used to be 129. I think it has been increased.
I counted 247 uses until my iron pickaxe broke. I started counting only after I mined a few blocks so the real amount is a bit more. Maybe 250? 256?

It's a trap, basically, hook it up to a pressure plate and instant protection!
The dispenser probably just throws out hte stuff you put there when you connect it to redstone
