Instead of a chest, he could make a safe. Costs more resources to make, but keeps your stuff safe from theft and destruction. On SMP, when one of them is placed, another cannot be placed within a 5 block radius from the last.

Nevermind, another program was interfering with Minecraft.
Sometimes chunks don't reload well. This causes them to be transparent, or have their lighting as if it was daytime. Snow will also not disappear.
To fix this, change the Render Distance. You can set it back to what you had before, you just need to change it to make 'reload' the chunk.

I just realized that NPC modders can base their own water NPCs off the squid.
Also, digging an underground fortress takes too long.

I think all sand that has an air block under it should turn into sandstone, because I hate caves that have completely sand ceilings.
Also I'm glad I never liked metal blocks that had different side and bottom textures.

I remeber on an old save making an indoor fishing pool, i loaded it up in hope finding squids inside and yes i did!
I converted the indoor fishing pond into a squid home for my new pets, there are 3 of them
