What the fuck the spider movement has changed in 1.2.
Before, spiders weren't able to jump out of the water into the center of the trap where I stand. Now they just jump straight over the 2 high wall from the water and attack me. Had to put glass blocks across the top every other block.

By which I mean, get Virtualdub, import the video, encode with xvid at quality ratio 5 with it set on HD, change the output fps to 30 and export it. Your file will be at least 10x smaller and keep 90% of the quality.

As for the mob trap design, I recommend checking out some videos to see what others have done. Keep in mind that the ones which gain thousands of items/hour dont do so any more because of updates.

After doing a huge trap underground before I did the one above, I can definitely say it's better to do it above ground.
Remember mobs wont spawn with 25 spaces of you or your spawn location, and they wont spawn more than 80 spaces away. Make spawn areas 3 blocks high and make sure you tackle spiders or they will clog up your trap. Lava is the best killing method.
Google Minecraft Mob Science. The first result is essential for you to read so you don't waste your time.
