If your going to talk about any of the Main Story or The Stars are Left, please use spoiler tags. Telling people where secrets/items are doesn't really matter to me. Just try not to spoil the plot.
What is Magicka?
Magicka is an action-adventure fantasy (and RPG) game set in the clichéd fantasy world of Midgård, based on Norse Mythology and loosely based on Scandinavian Mythology. The game's key mechanic is the spell casting which allows the player to select a combination of 5 Elements from the 8 (11) you have at your disposal. The Plot Once upon a time, in a land known as Midgård... There lived a powerful Wizard named Grimnir, who sought to harness the power of all Magicks -- ancient spells, crafted in times long forgotten. With such knowledge he might enable the wizards of the Order of Magick to spread eternal peace across the lands... But the Order of Magick instead felt threatened by his ambitions, and in the shadows they schemed, and devised a treacherous plan... ...and so, Grimir's disciples were expelled from the Order, and he himself was, for all time, imprisoned at World's End. All because of his dangerous lust for knowledge. Grimnir's dangerous ambitions dashed, the world was safe once more... Aside from the increased number of monsters attacking the good villagers. And of course, the warlord Khan, who had united the orc tribes, and now threatened the great city of Havindr. But in the dusty gloom of Castle Aldrheim, where the Order of Magick dwelled, a brilliant teacher and his finest pupils were about to embark on a journey that would prevent the world from changing... ... Forever... Without making this too difficult, I shall explain the elements and some types of spells you can do. The Elements Water - Spray type, wets enemies, causes knockback, but very low damage. Electricity - Lightning type, damage against wet or armored targets, armor piercing, and can jump to nearby units. Life - Beam type, locks on, can heal, and behaves like Arcane against undead targets. Arcane - Beam type, locks on, explosive (which means your enemies will expand and blow into gibs), behaves like Life against undead targets. Shield - Shield type, protective Barrier, can be boosted. Earth - Projectile type, high damage, knockdown, deals physical damage. Cold - Spray type, chills (slows down) and can freeze wet targets. Fire - Spray type, causes damage over time and panic. Sub-Elements Steam - Spray type, created with both Water and Fire, very effective against armored enemies and wets them. Ice - Projectile type, multiple shards, and can pierce armored enemies. Poison -A spell type that can't be directly used by wizards, but can be used by enemies later in the game. Healed with life. Some types of spells you can do This might not be the most descriptive section, so please check the wiki for more information on types of spells as there is a lot of stuff that involves other elements to make the spell stronger or do different things. This section will defiantly be rewritten at another time. Projectile Bombs - Base element is Earth, can be charged which increases the projectile's range and multiplies direct hit damage by 4.4 at full charge. Gravity and ricochets can modify total damage done. Beams - Base elements are Life and Arcane. Long-distance arcane or life rays. Beams can be crossed (merged) to create even more powerful beams if the two original beams do not contain any opposite elements. Projectile Barrages - Base element is Ice. Spread of unpredictable ice shards that can be charged for powerful long-range hits. Charging narrows the target cone and increases projectile speed and proposal software thus physical damage. Gravity and ricochets modify total damage done. Elemental Sprays - Base elements are Steam, Fire, Water, and Cold. Sprays and lightning arcs made of raw energy. Armor - Casting Shield alone, or using a solid element (Earth or Ice) with a Shield element creates a protective armor suit around the player that absorbs physical damage, but slows the player down and does not provide protection against status effects on its own. Resistance Aura - aster gains an aura that grants immunity to a certain element to ALL players or monsters within the range. Opposite Auras cancel out. The aura lasts for 15 seconds, and stacking elements increase radius and time by 5 seconds. There is no limit on the amount of damage it can absorb, making it very useful for resisting high damage spells such as thunderbolt, or element-based damage with dangerous knockback (goblin bombs). Mines - Combining a Shield with a Beam element gives you mines. Mines are detonated when anyone passes over them, including you! They also detonate if more bombs are placed on them. If you are inside a barrier or wall, mines can be laid outside them. Magicks Magicks are spells that require a certain combination of elements/sub-elements. They are mostly gotten manually throughout the Adventure but sometimes you have to go out of your way to search for them in the form of spellbooks. There are 21 in the main adventure. All Magicks are casted by hitting space instead of M2 or scrollwheel. Here is an example of some Magicks; Revive - The most used spell in co-op. Revives the last ally killed with a little bit of hp. Haste - Gotten early on in the tutorial. Speeds up player character. Casted by combining lightning, arcane, and fire. Invisiblity- Very useful, enemies cannot see you, and you can sneak around entire armies. Is cancelled when you use another magick, are hit by an attack (even healing will cancel the invisibility, so beware.), or by bumping into an enemy. Bumping into another player will not cancel the invisibility. Thunderbolt - Does a straight up 5000 base damage to the enemy or player it hits. Be careful when casting near allies, as it will kill most anything in one hit. But an exception to this are players with the Cyber Robes, which are immune to and healed by Electricity. Can be very useful when mastered. Thunderstorm - Begins raining onscreen, making all enemies wet, so trying to cast any lightning spells will result in hurting yourself. Then thunderbolts randomly come down around the screen, vaporizing anything they hit. These are only a few of the Magicks you can do! Expansions Note: You CAN play the Expansions if at least the game host has the DLC. Magicka: Vietnam
Magicka: Vietnam is the first DLC for Magicka that contains new playable content. This game is great. I made the banner. Also I'm gonna write up some descriptions of spells.
This game is so god damn hard playing solo.
This game is fun bit really hard to memorize everything.
This game is so god damn hard playing solo.
I didn't really find it that hard after I memorized Thunderbolt and could just cast it really fast. Most of the later enemies just became nothing.
Invisibility + Lightning Elementals. Best strategy 2012. Dissapear, summon elemental, shock him, and dissapear again, go behind the enemy, rinse and repeat.
Really fun and unique game. A bit buggy unfortunately but it's worth it.
Alrighty, I'll work more on this and have it done by today maybe. for now I'm going to get to sleep as i'm tired.
Love this game, I got all the dlcs but the new story one, is it worth it? Oh and by the way his thread should be V2, there was a huge magicka thread before

I remember the way I go through this game was spamming that staff which lets you summon tree ents and these two spells that let you summon zombie and elementals, all were easy expect for the final boss and death because my minions can't hurt him. Also I while I was fighting Vlad I encountered the bug that makes him fall off the map if you plant some health mine on the ground. Shit was fun when playing with friends, Deathmatch or Campaign. QREASA on your sword can pretty much one shot anythings small to medium sized. Last time I played Deathmatch with my friends they had to gang up on me because I was dominating them with QREASA and a resistance aura on myself.
Also, ARSE mines are really good for clearing out groups. Viet taught me that.
I don't know if it's updated or not, but Survival Mode is pretty easy if you managed to get summon zombies or summon elementals early to mid game.
The game is now on sale for $2.48 over at GamersGate. Yes, you can activate it on Steam.
Information on the main content expansions and some images have been added.
This game is so god damn hard playing solo.
Multiplayer is so much more difficult.
I love this game. Not sure how many new magicks are added in the Stars are Left, but I've only managed to find a levitation magick. And a sword that turns whatever it hits into a random monster. So far I turned my allies into a wooden horsey!
Played through this game awhile back, Rolling yellow. Killed eachother accidentally more than the enemies.

Did anyone beat vlad on the other side of the coin? I killed the first form with a friend, but the second form it's impossible
Did anyone beat vlad on the other side of the coin? I killed the first form with a friend, but the second form it's impossible
I've beat him with a friend. If I recall correctly we just ran around using resistance shields and spammed rocks.
Just to ask, should I make a Facepunch Magicka group? Agree for yes Disagree for no

Yeah, go for it. We need more players.
The somewhat complete group is available now. http://steamcommunity.com/groups/MagickaGeneral
Plot information and small thing at the bottom have been added, please notify me of anything I should add or improve upon.
This game really is great, you should give it a try. If you like complex spell systems (that are easy to learn) and destroying tons of baddies, you'll like this. 11/10 would play.
