Achivements do add so much replay value. I doubt most of you would've played COD4 epilouge so many times over just to finish it on veteran. In the end it became even enjoyable to see how smoothly and proffessionally I can kill everyone, especially that guy in the bathroom.

Achievements are fun, but only if they're under certain conditions. Progression achievements, save for a 'you beat the game' kind, are stupid unless they have variables attached, like 'don't get spotted by the enemy on this certain level' or whatever. Sort of like a challenge mode, only you don't have to go back to the main menu first.
"I AM SO COOL I HAVE 10000GP ON XBOX LIVE" Go kill yourselves or else natural selection will take care of that for you... hopefully.
Steamworks achievements are really the only Pc achivements that are recorded and shown to all.
and you can so easily cheat those.
I think achievements are great. They add a lot of replay-value.

That guy in the bathroom is one really unlucky guy. xD Achivements give replayability but there are some that just take it too far... Buying un-needed games just to get 1000 points that mean next to nothing.
No Fighting in the War Room on Veteran was harder than Mile High Club on Veteran imo.
Oh god yes, fucking bullshit didn't give me a checkpoint, so when i got to the missile silos, i died and had to start all over.
I like Achievements. I just HATE when they're the only way to unlock weapons. I paid 50 goddamn dollars for this game, I shouldn't have to work for the fucking content.
I do not understand this Achievements =/= Skill stigmata. If a achievement is especially difficult and is quite a feat to get then I do not see how the obtainer of the achievement can be called "Unskilled". [editline]02:26AM[/editline] Also, I don't find PC achievement sprrticularly as satisfying as I find Achievement son the 360 or Trophies on the PS3. Well World of Warcraft had some satisfying pop ups! [editline]02:29AM[/editline] Achevements have been around forever! Just now we get pop ups and a lo of them. What is the difference of getting all orbs in crackdown or joker teeth as apposed to Stars in Super Mario 64? [editline]02:32AM[/editline] I'm also not saying your ammount of achevements is your skill. But difficult ones do say something.
Because of the people that play halo that say oh I have every skull in the game I'm way better at it than you. They're massive hypocrites too. They act like people who play MMO's have no lives, while they spend hours upon hours trying to do stupid shit to get achievements in that game.
I had a lot more fun going through Mirror's Edge because I did the no guns achievement; some of them are creative and promote a different kind of play experience and I support that. Fuck the gamerscore, I just like doing them and feeling proud of myself :banjo: [editline]11:09PM[/editline]
Because of the people that play halo that say oh I have every skull in the game I'm way better at it than you.
No they don't
What completely pisses me off is the stupidity of the whole concept. I mean, In the beginning it was fun running around outside the map and what not, but now it's become a chore. I mean, for fucks sake, earlier it was just a matter of exploring the map to find a skull. Now, I heard from my friend that in one of the later levels of halo 3, to get a skull you have to jump through hoops in a certain order, and when you do the skull appears. They're not obvious hoops either, they're just rotating randomly around a platform. I mean, who the fuck in their right mind thinks 'Hey, If I jump through these hoops in the correct order, maybe something awesome will happen. There's like 5 hoops too, and you have to jump through them 8 times. That's literally 390 thousand combinations. There's no way you can do it on accident. Apparently people have fun these days by googling what to do and jumping through hoops.
Achievements are completely immersion breaking. I don't want to be reminded that I'm playing a game
a HUD or the fact that there are menus and numbers and stuff don't ruin YOUR IMMERSIOOOOON but a little pop-up telling you did something cool in the game does :confused:² [editline]11:13PM[/editline]
What completely pisses me off is the stupidity of the whole concept. Why do you do it.
I like achievements, but GOOD achievements. Like things that require SKILL ass opposed to hundreds of hours of gameplay; actual achievements instead of "Hey, look at me! I just wasted a portion of my life!"
Oh god yes, fucking bullshit didn't give me a checkpoint, so when i got to the missile silos, i died and had to start all over.
Let's not forget Heat, god I hate that hill. And the end of One Shot, One Kill, fucking grenade spamming shits.
Yeah, people do go crazy about those. There are tons of vids on how to cheat on those to get the points :|
well ya, but xbox has gamerscore, and everyones like "OMG MY DICK IS SO BIG I HAVE 1,000,000 GAMER SCOARS"
