I uh, I just used blender.

The basics are simple, expanding it is hard, but allowing it to be customizable can allow players to create custom AI Director behaviors.

When you add buildings, are you going to add some form of barricading?

I'm not very sure how you are going to do barricades and buildings, you're trying to go for the lowest poly amount right? well, barricades would most likely just consist of 6 polys. Just wooden boards and what not. I would definitely like the ability to hold up in some some random building shooting zombies through the barricades.
To be honest, I don't really want to have barricading in my game. Just like in L4D, I don't really want the player to ever stop walking, unless it's the "Stronghold" gamemode, which reminds me that I maybe should talk about gamemodes I thought about so far. Stronghold - You've got a destructible house, they've got a horde. How long can you survive? The Hunt - Big boss and his minion, kill him. The Rush - Get from A to B avoiding getting killed. [editline]27th November 2011[/editline] A little unfinished list of stuff I'm planning to do. http://myfabulousend.wikia.com/wiki/Developer_To-Do_List
Stronghold will be the gamemode I play the most then. I'll definitely be focusing my efforts on that in the future.
The Rush - Get from A to B avoiding getting killed.
Sounds pretty much like L4D to me. Are you planning to make the barricading system that you have a hammer/wrench and pop planks onto walls or will it be like half life 2 and allow you to pick up props?
I'd suggest a survival gamemode. And add barricades.
I'd suggest a survival gamemode. And add barricades.
That's stronghold. I still wish there still was a bad reading/spelling rating.

This looks fucking amazing. Will try it as soon as I get home.
I like you, many tools I use too. I can't imagine many people giving a shit about me, self-studying, because I don't get any fancy paper for that. Spent quite a while texturing my new model, "only" 50% to go. At least it looks about 10.5x times better than the previous one.
Looks fabulous!
Maybe spread the blood on the cut sections around A bit more?
Something is wrong with that face... [sp]Geez, I'm so childish.[/sp]
Something is wrong with that face... [sp]Geez, I'm so childish.[/sp]
Is the Mouth transparent? Kinda looks like that
Is the Mouth transparent? Kinda looks like that
Hah, oh no. It's just the same shade of gray (64,64,64) as background in Blender. I'm almost done with new zombie model, I just need to texture the upper torso and export in a suitable format. So that will be done tomorrow morning.
I can't decide on the stylization, what do you think? left, right or center? I personally always liked drawing toony characters with tiny feet and hands, but I think that I'm minority in that.
The one on the right has a bit thin legs.
The game didn't freeze my laptop running 'fantastic' settings, but when I put it on low it completely crashed.
I've played the game on fabulous graphics even on my "crap" school laptop.
The game didn't freeze my laptop running 'fantastic' settings, but when I put it on low it completely crashed.
There's some weird stuff happening on low settings in the Week 4 version, I think that it should be solved in the next version. [editline]29th November 2011[/editline]
The one on the right has a bit thin legs.
It was intentional, though I forgot to scale down the hips, to match the legs. [editline]29th November 2011[/editline] Wow...I mean WOW! I googled the name of my game, just for fun and found out that there are tons of Russian warez websites have "pirated" my game. My unfinished game. They even posted some screenshots and my development video along with it. I counted the amount of downloads on some of those sites and they're estimated at THOUSANDS downloads total. I'm completely stunned.
Wait how do you pirate a free game
Wait how do you pirate a free game
By "pirated" I meant that they distributed it without my permission (and they have all right to do so, since I'm not disallowing anyone to do so), hence the quotation marks.
Oh well, doesn't that technically count as just downloading it from a mirror source?
Wait how do you pirate a free game
They uploaded older versions.
Oh well, doesn't that technically count as just downloading it from a mirror source?
Not really no.
