I use an ATI X1950 Pro, run it on widescreen 1440 x 900, High-Medium settings, and it runs fine.
I use an ATI Radeon HD 4800, on widescreen 1920 x 1200, on High settings (except the settings which need DirectX 10) with very good FPS's.
Hey, little update with actual new content.
A ~30 minute interview was just posted in 3 parts. while there's no translation up yet it shows CoP in motion as well as giving you a glimpse of what I can only assume is Pripyat in GSC's level editor. Supposedly (at least according to someone on the GSC forums that understands russian but doesn't want to translate) GSC also talks about STALKER 2 and how they finally got steaming levels working, a console release, and how it won't be using any version of Cryengine. Although I can't verify any of that right now. Fair warning there is a LOT of talking.

Oh, and I just noticed this but the OP misspelled "Pripyat" in the topic title.... good job there :P
They should make one good STALKER game instead of shitting out one mediocre game after the other.
Because 3 games, this one not coming out until...when? 2010? means they are taking the EA approach.
:downs:
I really hope it gets an sdk and modders don't have to hack there way to victory.
I'm not buying another buggy as shit game with an DRM that blue screens my computer.

The mods renamed it, I can't fix it! :saddowns:
I'll add the videos, though.
Still don't have a real translation for that interview, but here's one of the russian-speaking GSC forumers paraphrasing what was said.
They mainly said that monsters will be alot harder and tricker to kill. The zone has now become a realm not of stalkers but of mutants. For example Chimera will be very hard to spot and very manouverable at night. Burers will be shy but agressive if approached too closely. Bloodsuckers will be vulnerable when invisible again.
Duty will be heavy gun/armor equipment oriented, Freedom will be sniper and ecologist equipment oriented while bandits will have yet unknown mixture of guns for sale. Then they talked about adding some auto shotgun which is essential for heavy action later in the game. They confirmed that there won't be any more new guns as there already is a good variety of them.
Ballistics have been made more realistic, because in CS fights took place around 30m away. That made all guns equally effective. In Cop they might take up to 100m away so that's why the ballistics have been made more gun specific to make them feel alot more real. Now guns classes will have more distinct and accurate characteristics. Also grenade tossing won't be that uber accurate anymore, yay!
Then, the devs talked about how Stalker got second place for most sophisticated game AI while Left4Dead got first. That was something they were really proud of.
Also they claimed this game will have the most accurate real life locations of all Stalkers. They emphasized most on eastern Pripyat how they always dreamt of putting it with other Stalkers. Now it will very exciting to play it with it's many diverse and real loacales which will be open for explorations.
Also devs mentioned about boosters that can boost your carry limit, stamina, bleed/damage resistance and even blowout resistance.
Stalker life will now be made of different daily routines. Loners will gather artifacts and return during the evening, Bandits will hunt them down during that time, while mutants will hunt for Bandits and Loners, and Duty will hunt for mutants, so the Alife will get lot more complex and intertwined.
Economy and trading has been improved as well. You can now buy guns and artifacts off stalkers, but the probability of them having your stuff won't be enough to really rely on trading.
Mutant and NPC graphics will be improved. Now there will be 30 new NPC faces an they will have their own expressions and mimicking abilities.
Jupiter will be an industrialized area where you could take part in helping either Freedom or Duty take complete control of the Yanov train station.
Sounds like a lot fun to me, although I'm a bit upset there won't be anymore new weapons, aside from an auto-shotgun(?). Hmm...
I still don't understand why they must keep using such horrible weapon and character (with the exception of a few ones from Clear Sky) models that were produced way back in 2003.
Shaky cam images of the new auto-shotgun were just posted. I have no idea what kind of shotgun it is, but it's clearly not a Saiga of any kind, which is a major disappointment.
Pics from a play test that took place in Kiev on June 25'th. New auto shotgun:

A very rare and powerful weapon.
What the hell, GSC?
EDIT
One more screenshot. According to speculation the new "Bar like area" will be inside this ship, complete with an arena. Not sure on accuracy of that rumor though.

Looks like a PPSh-41 to me...not a shotgun...
I hope it is original, I was annoyed at Clear Skys because it was just a graphics upgrade to SOC
Looks like a PPSh-41 to me...not a shotgun...
Kind of... but not really. And to confirm it is a shotgun, look in the bottom right corner of the first screenshot, you can see a box of buckshot, indicating the weapon is loaded with it.
EDIT
It's a DAO-12 (aka Striker). Like the Jackhammer, it's an unusual and rare weapon that's noted more for its design than practicality.
Beats me why GSC had to add that, I mean there's plenty of other weapons to add that would fit the atmosphere of the Zone more but now they've ruined it.
For STALKER 2, I expect GSC to add more appropriate weapons, like the Mosin, AKM and various other common black market guns.
Maybe, but I think it looks a little too square and bulky to be a DAO-12. then again it could just be a placeholder model... or GSC have really let their standards slip.

Anyone know if factional warfare is in on this one?
I really hope they make new weapon models. They've kept the same models since the first game, and they're shit ugly. The ejection ports are on the wrong side too.
Anyone know if factional warfare is in on this one?
No. GSC felt it never really worked the way it was supposed to and so decided to so away with it. Story-wise Freedom and Duty have entered into a ceasefire, Clear Sky is gone, neither the bandits nor mercs are trying to hold territory and the military still wants to kill everyone.
You have no idea how hard I came when I read there is wearable gas masks
I really hope they make new weapon models. They've kept the same models since the first game, and they're shit ugly. The ejection ports are on the wrong side too.
The ejection ports on every gun in almost every game is on the wrong side.
This looks so awesome, I hope it gets lots of mods too.
i really hope they bugtest this before release
i just finished clear sky and the last level was so fucking buggy not to mention everytime it started raining I would have to restart my game because of a graphical glitch
but I am really looking forward to this, it looks really fucking cool
[editline]06:50AM[/editline]
also i hope they get rid of that stupid techno music shit that clear sky had
I really hope they make new weapon models. They've kept the same models since the first game, and they're shit ugly. The ejection ports are on the wrong side too.
The AKS-74 and the LR-300 were made back in 2002, but it's not likely GSC will remake them for some weird reason. Oh well, maybe someone will port the quality weapons from the Arsenal mod over and redo the generic animations.
they keep reusing alot of weapons and monsters from the first game
i really hope they actually add some new ones this time
it's fine if they reuse them but at least add a decent amount of new ones ffs
Fingers crossed that none of the npc's have their eyes fixed and turn 180 degrees to look at you.
Is it still gonna be the zone system or will it finally be seamless like oblivion?
Is it still gonna be the zone system or will it finally be seamless like oblivion?
Zones, although much, much bigger.
Like, 3 times the size.
Okay, now that I've seen a few pictures of a Protecta shotgun I'll admit the auto-shotgun is probably that weapon. Look a the middle weapon:
http://img148.imageshack.us/img148/6991/sweepers.jpg
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/8/8b/Protecta-shotgun-p1030163.jpg
If I'm not mistaken isn't this weapon South African in origin? How the hell did it end up in the zone? But then again it is more likely than a Jackhammer (apparently only two working prototypes were ever made).
Is it still gonna be the zone system or will it finally be seamless like oblivion?
Well, I'd prefer it to be cut into zones than loading into every door in the game, and almost no windows.
I know it's not going to use oblivion engine or anything even remotely similar, if they even would, just pointing some flaws that could happen to improve a system.
I like how GSC is taking ideas from mods like the sleeping one for example. I hope it's not as bad as clear sky was
I find STALKER quite fun, but there's something about the engine that I don't like, it just doesn't look good IMO [/graphics rant]
Of all things I'm excited over its probably the sky the most (and gas masks :P) The reason is because it looks like day, with sunshine and a blue sky. I was getting tired of the gloomy, bleak gray sky ALL the time like in SoC.
Also, on a side note about SoC. Did they ever include Duga-3?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Russian_Woodpecker
It's a long story so I really don't want to explain but bottom line is that I never got near the end so I never got to check.
