Fuck. I'm still using DX9.
Well that just means that you didn't waste your money on the abandonment that is DX10.
I'm not saying DX10 is useless, it's just barely good enough for a new graphics card and/or OS, neither is DX11 really, but DX10 + 11 is probably worth it, once a decent amount of games support it.
I like the idea of tessellation being more detailed models with minimum performance hit and effort for devs, but it's only really noticable in wireframe which we won't be seeing in game.
That and the over the top bumping in that Unigine demo, which makes things grow out of nowhere as you get close from far away.
That water didn't look that good. I mean, it looked good, but What the fuck, a car at 100mph causing a small wave? WHERE'S THE SPLASH?
That is just what I was thinking!!!
All Codemasters' games are really optimized and runs smoothly on most systems, especially GRID. Let's hope this one runs fast too.

Characters have rounder gasmasks!?
HOLY SHIT BRB BUYING NEW GPU & OS.
[editline]05:01AM[/editline]
In all seriousness though, CoP probably had DX11 thrown in at the last minute and tessellation will most likely get better in the future it's just right now, it doesn't look impressive out of wireframe.
Sign me up when a Direct X version can implament per object motion blur with no performance drop.
That looked really nice. I fucking love dirt, even without the DX11 (console versions and shit) the game's cameras during the replays are placed at beautiful angles.
Am I the only one finding that ATi fanboys are getting more obnoxious than their Nvidia counterparts? I think it's because they have been repressed for a long time (especially under the Nvidia 8000-series) due to Nvidia having a larger market share than ATi, and therefore they have a greater need to vent their angst against Nvidia than Nvidia fanboys (against ATi in case of Nvidia fanboys). That said Nvidia fanboys are just as bad, they just seem to be less "active" lately.
Funny because i own a 8800GT and even i say that nvidia has been fucking up these past years
I have this game on Xbox 360 and I must say that DiRT 2 was a disappointment for me...
First DiRT (1) as we know was a great rally game right? With alot of rally, as it always been in the Colin McRae series, with some great rally cross and BAJA from time to time. DiRT 2 is now a freakin' rally cross only (with three fucking tracks that you play all the fucking time! Where's my rally? Seriosly, all you do, is playing the fucking same tracks over and over again on BAJA, Raids or Rally Cross! It's like they have gone to the younger audience, with all their fucking lightning effects everywhere on the tracks and mainstream cars! And when you do get to drive a rally, the tracks sucks. It's all "GO STRAIGHT AHEAD IN 300 MPH WROOOM" There's no challenge on the tracks! I liked the old tracks from DiRT (1) that gave you a feeling that you really sat in a rally car at a real rally stage! I'm so pissed of at codemasters right now... they ruined a of what have could been, a great game. Bravo...
They should have taken the great moments from DiRT 1 and put it in DiRt 2 with more rally stages that codemasters been taking a effort to make!
There, now you have my opinion. Fuck you codemasters!
I don't know, I didn't see this trailer to be anyhow extreme.
Yeah, some of it was pretty cool, but a lot of effects looked out of proportion or overdone. I don't really see a MASSIVE amount of change since DX9.
In my opinion, Dirt 2 is awesome and Tippz sucks.
There, now you have my opinion. Fuck yours, tippz!
Okay the comparison in the beginning was just bullshit.. DX9 -> DX11 does not mean more polygons.

Just another fucking gimmick that encourages you to get Windows 7.
Just like they did with Vista. I can't see the reason why they can't put DX10 and DX11 on Windows Xp,
Except making more money.
Looks alright, I don't particularly like racing games though. Dirt 2 came with my 5870 but I gave it to my friend.

I thought dx11 works with vista too.
Looks great, but that water is too gelified. Other than that, great. The lighting definitely sells it too.

agreed on this. Its strange, but some games look alot better then real life at times. Maybe the glow is overdone, or maybe saturated, but thats actually appealing to me.

Just pop in some LSD.
Horrible demo. Much better:

Unigine Corp. presents their newest tech demo with their engine, now featuring DirectX 11. It runs very good with DirectX 11. If you have a DirectX 11 ready card, such as ATIs 5000 series, you can turn on tessellation, which greatly improves the image quality. In the demo, you may use the free camera and “fly” around, or you can use the “walking mode” (shooter game type movement, no flying).
Video 1: benchmark

Video 2 Tessellation differences (on/off)

This demo is available to the public, so feel free to try it! Please, take note, DirectX 11 is ONLY available on DirectX 10 cards, and windows vista or windows 7. However, for vista users, service pack 3 is needed (and at the time of posting, I don’t think its out). For hardware tessellation, you need a DirectX 11 card.

If they could make benchmark not that fantasy, but in realistic enviroment, I could judge how awesome it is. Also, look at that parallax road - must be pain in the feet walking on it
Tesselation: Oh my, at first I thought it is just parallax mapping, but then - it is awesome
Too bad it is for best GPUs. That means I don't care, I just play TF2 and CSS
Horrible demo. Much better:
Wait, so what the tessellation exactly does?
From this demo, it looks like some sort of super-bump mapping
Horrible demo. Much better:
That is awesome. I will probably try it out after I build my new PC that is on the way.
DirectX 11 already?
what

Kind of, but not really at all.. Look it up, do some research.

2006: DirectX 10
2009: DirectX 11
What do you mean already..?
Anybody running windows 7 can try it guys, give it a shot! Your DirectX 10 card can run it. It runs surprisingly well, which I would think is due to the fact DirectX 11 supports multithreading, which really seems to help. Maybe its something else. 60 FPS in DirectX 10, 80 in DirectX11 for me. Looks better to :downs:

Would be nicer, but has been discussed over at another forum, we basically came to the conclusion it was just a demonstration of the new features. Having the walkway like that really showed the features, no?
