Well you buy a mac mainly to show off. If you're going to an university and you put a big mac in front of you everybody is like *ooh* because they're beautiful and expensive so mainly extravagant. EDIT: Reasons you really need a mac: -You're working in/for a company that uses mac. -You started with mac and can't be bothered with switching -You're the end-user type i.e. don't want to or can't do NOTHING and the thing has to work
I've got a laptop and it works fine for gaming, so...
Never loved laptops. Especially Mac. Go get a PC.
If you want to game, get a windows laptop. That's obvious. Although mac has games, it doesn't have as quite as big of a selection when it comes to older games, and there is no Steam. Dual booting using a mac laptop will be a waste of hard drive space and money. If you want something that works well and won't give you any trouble, get a Mac laptop. You are going to pay a lot more money though. You want to play games, so get windows. Also guys, he isn't asking whether to get a desktop computer or a laptop.

Boot Camp runs pretty smooth on my MacBook. All the games work great, but if you only need gaming, get a PC.
Buy a Windows They're both PC's dumbasses, they just run on different operating systems.
If you want gaming your best bet is a Windows PC, and really, get a desktop if this is just for home use.
Macs are for people who don't know how to use a computer.

Get a PC for sure!
Some cheap gaming laptops: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834152125 (I have the older model, love it) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834220637
I'd personally go with this, I guess: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=9568149&type=product&id=1218125774394 I bought a gateway P6831-FX back when it was the best budget one around. Not much competition then. I don't know if anyone here remembers that sickly red crap that toshiba had out at the time?
PC most definitely. But I suggest you not get a laptop to play games unless it was strictly built for gaming. I used to have a laptop that had decent specs but also dropped to 15-30fps from 50-60 on almost every game because of the fan. Thing heated up like a microwave.
there are plenty of laptops that are excellent for gaming, such as mine which is a year old, that can run crysis on pretty much very high with some dx10 levels, and get a stable 25-40 fps. It cost around $1249 for a 9800m gts 512, 2.26 ghz which is a bit lame but it still works well, 4 gigs of ram and 300 somethin gbs for hard drive.. Only problem you might find in most gaming laptops is over heating, causing the laptop to lockup and force you to restart.. usually doesn't over heat for me when the ac is on though :v: But now there are laptops that are around $2400 for like 280m gtx's sli'ed, with 6 gigs of ram, and quad processors.. think it was that Sager notebook one.. i'm not sure i'll get a link [editline]10:20PM[/editline] http://www.sagernotebook.com/category_browse.php?cid=&lcdsize=18 ah yes, but it's at 18 inches big.. just consider it a portable pc. :v:
Seconding the sager/clevo option, an NP9260/Clevo W860CU (Core i7 [can become 920XM], 280m, 15.4"...hell yeah) can be good enough for just about anyone, personally ill wait until RAM gets cheaper and the new geforce 3xxM series start flooding in. If you are too impatient i recommend www.xoticpc.com, very competitive prices and a wider range of custom notebooks. PS: Recent laptops that are not ASUS usually dont have the heat problems, use Intel matrix system to reduce HDD heat and undervolt the processor to receive around anything from 5-20 degree C less than the norm.
