Wat? I clicked install game, Steam hanged, didn't appear on my games list. Now when i go back to the store page, it says "Play Game" instead of "Install Game"

It's generous of valve to give one of their better games away for free, instead of it being half life 2 deathmatch all the time (if you have ATI in your system, you get free half life 2 deathmatch. Same with Nvidia) they kept running those campaigns.
It says on the store page that it comes with the source SDK.
If they're going to give out more of these, then I hope the next one is TF2.
It's just a way of getting everyone liking portal so that they have a larger market to sell Portal 2 to.
It's also a great way of getting Mac Users started on Steam.

You have mods for it, You get maps & models for gmod. With a freeweekend you can't.

Does this qualify so you can download third party source mods? e.g Zombie Panic! Source requires the Source SDK. Does the free portal qualify so you can download it? My friend gets the error "Zombie Panic Source is a mod and requires you to own a version of the base game"

Yeah the only thing the orange box has for me is EP2 and TF2, now that Portal is free.
