Yeah I don't understand why they didn't use an upgraded gore engine since one already exists in the engine they use.
I thought the gore took away from it. I didn't like the feel WaW gave me, but then again I didn't like WaW.
Thank you IW, for not incorporating Treyarch's shit gib system. Honestly, I don't think a fragmentation grenade would blow multiple limbs off.
I never got WaW, what was so bad about it?

Stop whining, dear god.
Everybody ain't 12 like you, which aren't allowed to play gory games.
sounds great, hope you can noscope and have great sniper rifles
looks great if it's just like cod4 but better, it's a wet dream for every selfrespecting fps-gamer
It was bad. The campaign sucked, long boring. No variety. Massive battles in campaign where it was you versus the entire nazi/japanese army. Teammates never did anything but yell and die.
Multiplayer sucked because nobody ever uses anything other than full-autos or the occasional sniper. They fucked up the bolt action weapons, so that only bolt actions with sniper scopes killed in one hit. Nobody in MP ever talks on mic, unless they're raging.
I hated the entire game. I got it for Christmas, and I was already playing COD4 again by that night. If I had spent $60 on it I might as well hit myself.

I dislike the gore myself. I think it's stupid. Okay? Fuck off. I'm not 12, but you may be older than me. No need to pick up that kind of attitude. In my family it goes if you can buy it, you can play it.

I personally enjoyed the story. It was atmospheric, I felt it gave an accurate representation of how it feels to lose people (Roebuck) in a war. The weapons were pretty varied and useful in the campaign, but I agree that you did too much. "Throw a smoke! Call in an airstrike! Put the flag on top of the Reichstag!"
As far as multiplayer, I don't know what bolt actions you use, but my K98 and bayonet pretty much one shot everything. It did feel like CoD4 with all the automatics, but it wasn't entirely worse; at least WaW has Nazi Zombies and continual support from Treyarch via mappacks.
All I'm saying is that WaW, while not entirely groundbreaking, wasn't a shitty game in it's own right and from what I've seen, 80% of hate is from people who either hate Treyarch, have never played the game, or give stupid reasons for not buying it e.g. "oh no, there's a telescopic sight on a Gewehr 43 rifle. The game is unrealistic! How dare an arcade shooter reuse unrealistic mechanics from an older version of CoD!"
Well you say it gave an accurate representation of how it felt to lose people? Not for me. I hated all of the characters, even the sniper mission spinoff guy. Why? I don't even know. But I was unable to become attached to them in the same way I was in COD4.
Also, it's more like 40% of the hate came from people who simply refused to buy a Treyarch game. The others hated it because it was a waste of fucking money, after being promised by multiple reviewing shows, blogs, etc that it was an improvement over their other shitty WWII games.
I am never, ever buying a Treyarch game again. They simply cannot learn that we don't want to go back to WWII. Stop making games. I've heard their next COD game is going to be WWII again.
[editline]sadsdalkjs[/editline]
That and the spawns in MP were TOTALLY FUCKED UP. 90% of your spawns in MP were either with an enemy right behind you, or you right behind an enemy. Fuck that, it ruined everything for me.
[editline]lasjdskdajd[/editline]
I mean Treyarch was basically given COD4's engine and they still managed to fuck up.

No-scoping is bad, and you should feel bad. Only morons TRY and no-scope by abusing the aiming system, if you get one from sheer luck, then good for you, but don't go posting it on YouTube and boasting about it.
Though a wider range of sniper rifles would be nice, like some that are a bit more effective at close range, but a little weaker over long ones. And not every FPS gamer wants to play arcade shooters full of drooling morons who think having a golden weapon is the best thing ever.
honestly, I stopped buying treyarch games after COD3
I only ever rented WaW
[editline]04:46PM[/editline]
and actually now that i think about it
i didnt even buy call of duty 3, i rented that when it came out because I was at blockbuster and I saw it, I though to myself, wow isn't call of duty 2 still a new game?! That's where my disappointment began
[editline]04:46PM[/editline]
don't get me wrong though, WaW was a definite improvement from 3, but still no 2 or 4
I never got WaW, what was so bad about it?
I liked it. The campaign wasn't as good as CoD4's campaign but it's not a bad game. The MP was better too, or at least I think it was.

Like that never happened in any of the previous Call of Duty games. Never mind spawns, many of Modern Warfare's multiplayer maps are fundamentally flawed, especially the maps ported from the campaign.
Maps like Makin underwent substantial changes in order to keep the combat flowing and give players more freedom to move around the map; on the other hand, flanking and getting the upper hand in Bog is impossible because there's only one direction either side can go in.
Oh well. Normally I'd rage, but I'm not even going to rate disagree. I can't really see where you're coming from but okay.

I dunno. I hated Makin, but I love Bog. And the fact that it's impossible to flank and get the upperhand could be good and bad. But it's not like there's any way to get the upperhand, considering there's infinite and dynamic respawns. No set sides.

Really? In my experience, the sides generally start and end on either side of the map. Campers in the grass, grenade spam and one side gaining the monopoly on kill streak assets generally leads to the other getting forced into one end of the map. Sure, dynamic respawning gets one or two players behind enemy lines but it's never enough to turn the tide.
Of course, these are all things I've seen happen in the PC version. Many of the maps are too small and restrictive to handle anything approaching 32 player servers.

On the PS3 version the gamemodes immedietely restrict how many people can be in the server. So you have 6 player teams it's fairly easy to switch sides.
So in MW2 can I have a gun with an ACOG scope, heatshield, M203, drum mag, vertical grip, and laser sight all in one?
I think with Bling you can only have two attachments, unless there's something like "pro bling".

My grandfather was in WW2 and he was killed in action. My grandmother told me the story and it was heartbreaking. I myself had an obvious reason to connect with the characters because someone close to me was in the same boat. It's all about human experience.
It very well is an improvement. Extra guns, ranks, Nazi Zombies... but if you're expecting something proportionately better than CoD4, then you're in the wrong boat. A lot of hate for other games, like Spore, were due to anticipations being crushed. I likes Spore a lot, but nobody else did.

Maybe they'll learn this time. There's nothing saying that the game will be worse than WaW (then again we don't know if it will be better as well.)
And I don't understand how because they make WW2 games, they should stop making games completely?

The spawns were awful in TDM on 90% of the maps in CoD4. I hated them. It was shit to get mowed down on a 20 man Broadcast server, and the other maps were all pretty bad. I'd like to point out that in WaW, the machine gun camping has been cut down immensely. I don't see any MG42 people who don't just do W+M1. But then again, you don't see a lot of people who take the time to use a decent weapon like bolt actions as I do. :/
I'm going to finish my part in this semi-thread derailment/argument in saying each game has flaws. In overall quality, I do agree that CoD4 is better. But World at War has me coming back for more with the PC prestige mode, frequent map packs and nazi zombies... et cetera.

Its almost as bad on the 360. In domination I mainly get killed by grenades thrown randomly by the enemy team. Also, very few people actually even go for the middle objective, they all take sniper rifles, throw their one frag grenade, and crouch in the grass and snipe.
And that's with a max of 18 people. I wouldn't want to see what happens with 32

UHHHH thinking of 32 people grenade spamming makes me not want to get modern warfare 2 on pc. Maybe I should just stick with my 360.
It's a shame that nades ruin the gameplay for any player count above 16
Blast shields might help though.
And the vertical map emphasis.
i agree i totally see where you're coming from
