The PC community wins!
He never directly said anything about making changes, though.
5 kill streak you get a Sentry gun? This isn't fucking Team Fortress!
He never directly said anything about making changes, though.
But at least we know that the petition was noticed and acknowledged. We'll see what happens from there.
I'm definitely getting this for xbox, 4 player split screen is so damn fun.
Lol this is awesome news, hopefully at least something will be done to make this better, then I may consider buying it for PC, if not, then I won't get it.
No Dedicated servers = no fun.

Oh shit. Didn't realize that was from Yahtzee. Figured it wasn't completely serious, that's why I put in
The bitchfest about the server system being changed shows exactly how buttfuckingly retarded the PC community is. When you buy a game, you are not entitled to the nice extras like mods or a dedicated server system. Though nice to have for obvious reasons, you are not promised them (and besides the modding for CoD 4 was a fucking joke). I know the console users will not complain if they were given a server browser, as they don't know any better most times, but portraying the console and it's user base as retarded, disease ridden scum does not show maturity, it shows stupidity. It makes me ashamed to be a PC gamer sometimes. Maybe developers should for once think about modifying the console versions to meet up with PC versions, then again, the PC community would then cry over losing their "superiority".
And it appears the answer to every problem the PC community has is a boycott, one of the most ineffective forms of protest I have ever known, especially Internet based ones as they are so easy to tamper with. But again, bitching and moaning might have done something, I expect a shoddy, tacked on system that hardly works if the boycott has made IW change their minds. Still, I would mainly be getting this for singleplayer, and seeing as the multiplayer community in CoD 4 was fairly crap, I expect twice the shit here, another reason not to go near it. So these decisions don't affect me too much I guess.
Agree x10
Completely removing mod support from a PC title is, also, an act of unfathomable stupidity. PC games are often bought because they provide the consumer with an opportunity to create their own content in an environment where they don't have the money or technical expertise to do otherwise. Counter Strike started off as a Half-life mod; it is still one the most played games online for any platform despite having been released a decade ago. Team Fortess? It's Quake mod that's had infinity longer legs (and arguable more success) than the very game it was spawned from. The PC port of RE4 looked worse than the PS2 version did when it was released; because of the community, updates were made to the game that not only allow it to easily compete with most current gen titles, but fixed the well documented control issues and even provided others (I'm sure you can now use a Wiimote for the PC version). We could delve into the countless weapons, characters, custom maps, custom levels, and total conversions that the modding community have made. These are all things the console ecosystem often does not provide (sometimes for copyright issues, sometimes to wring money out of wallets in order to sell you things the community could've created in a day) and it's always been a major factor in purchasing a game for one platform over another. Which, I'm sure, is why they killed MW2's modding community before it had a chance to begin; they now have the opportunity to sell us 3 maps at the low price of $10 and there's no way for us to compete with them. With IW pulling the feature from one of the year's most advertised and anticipated games in order to hock ***** to us we would've made on our own, they risk giving other developer a precedent to do the same for future titles. ::claps:: Way to piss on the fans that made you a top developer, Infinity Ward.
Not to mention that l4d spawned from a counterstrike mod.

Unbiased explanation of our situation, nice find.
IW forums are in flames. Nice job IW.

So a company makes a game, right. For PC and consoles. PC version has some better features because the PC supports those better features - Things like modding, server browser, et cetera. On the PC, people have come to expect free patches and maps as well as basic features such as a server browser, so that is the norm. The console gamers get a version that is well-optimized for their consoles, having matchmaking because a server browser would be impossible to navigate and having the normal "Pay-for-DLC" thing going on because the company that made the consoles makes the console users do that anyway. Everyone is happy.
Then, they make another game with a modified engine of their previous game. They remove the "better features" and lower the PC game down to the level of console games. Now PC gamers have to pay for maps and they do not get the features that made the PC version so easy on the PC. Console gamers are happy because they get the same game, PC gamers are not happy because they get a dumbed down version of a game that is not well suited for the PC and it is less enjoyable than what they anticipated / what they would have gotten if the PC version was not dumbed down and rid of its features that made it worthy to buy for the PC.
Okay?
