Hamaci emulates lan, not a dedicated server.
I know, but using a script like the wc3 dedicated servers use could be used with it. (Allows you to host games without wasting a spot, though of course you can't play at the same time)

Main point of dedi is to play on large player lagless environment. Who's going to waste their whole pc on a server anyway?
Hell, even nasty DRM is better than this shit. How much more can they fuck pc users because of their piracy? Now when they got no dedis, it will be pirated even more.
Oh god, nasty DRM would be worse than this. Do you want another Spore? "Oh, no, we can't let you install this totally legal disk and key as you installed it on another PC" "But...I removed it?" "Nu-uh :colbert:" "Fuck you then /piracy" I don't think the lack of dedicated servers will affect the piracy too much, it might fuck the sales up, but the piracy will probably be about the same (people rarely pirate for singleplayer, and if multiplayer doesn't work on pirated versions, not much point really). As annoying as the lack of Dedicated servers is, I don't really think there is much we can do about it, even with a bigass petition you'll probably go unnoticed as Activision (not IW themselves), will probably force them to keep this system for whatever reason they are doing it (Most likely money). Though like I said in my earlier post, if they do add a server browser at this point, it'll be some seriously broken shit, the game is basically done, I really don't think they would be asked to re-code the entire server system this close to release, as they'd have to test it and all that crap again.

I would be glad if it was VAC, Dedicated Servers, and Steam Required. I'm going to get rated dumb aren't I. Oh and punkbuster sucks.

People pirate for single player all the time and quite often for multiplayer. So, yes. It will get very pirated. What's the point of buying it only for it's singleplayer, when you can pirate it. (I'm not suggesting warez, I'm showing a point of view.)

But I rarely see pirates who got a game that has a multiplayer segment just so they can play the singleplayer. If I were to pirate a game (which I probably won't, I like to support devs who deserve it), I wouldn't just play the singleplayer and think I might as well leave the multiplayer alone, I'd play the multiplayer too. Something you'd consider before loading your favorite lawbreaker really, would it be a one time waste of bandwidth, or not? And most people who pirate seem to use it for hacks and shit, I'm guessing they are just trying to cover any legit keys they may have.
By the way, is that guy with the mohawk we keep seeing Soap or some other random guy?

So if you cheat in mp, you can only do it on cracked servers.
By the way, is that guy with the mohawk we keep seeing Soap or some other random guy?
It's Soap I think...I don't really know it, too.

Most people nowadays have unlimited bandwidth. They pirate the game to see what it's like and if they like it, they play it and if they can they play multiplayer. That's it.
But most likely what happens is that if they like the multi, they will most likely buy it. Legit servers are always better.
But most likely what happens is that if they like the multi, they will most likely buy it. Legit servers are always better.
I can't really agree on this one. We got some nonsteam css, dods, tf2 and so on servers, and they are just like all other ones. FYI I own these games, it's just these servers got the lowest ping.
Changed my name to SIGNTHEPETITION and played a couple games, saying " sign the petition for dedicated servers when mw2 comes out at *********com/dedis4mw2 because they arent allowing them " I got like 60 people promising to sign it  tinyurl -.-"

Even if you were using it in the loose sense. Pirating a game as a kind of demo is what I've seen people around here do, and some of my friends (who regretted it as the game was terrible anyway). I'm hardly underestimating piracy, I know it's a big problem, but it's near impossible to avoid. Unless you meant I was underestimating in some other way.

Already got my hands near reconsidering the preorder. Do it, IW.
Sticking with the original MW.

Reading through the article there is just a lot of bullshit stuff they're clearly saying just to please us, and it's blatant. This disgusts me.
No such thing as unlimited bandwidth. *words*
Who told you that? Maybe your ISP has limited bandwidth, but in my country all ISPs give unlimited bandwidth because they don't give a shit what you're doing. They earn money = they are happy.

We DONT want shitty sessions, we want normal servers where we can join at any time. Dedicated ones. But noo, they have to push their shitty iwnet.
who told you that? Maybe your isp has limited bandwidth, but in my country all isps give unlimited bandwidth because they don't give a shit what you're doing. They earn money = they are happy.
where do you live.
where do you live.
I live in Latvia. Our isps are all unlimited too.
Who told you that? Maybe your ISP has limited bandwidth, but in my country all ISPs give unlimited bandwidth because they don't give a shit what you're doing. They earn money = they are happy.
Fair usage policies kick in with most ISPs over the world. If you start to whore bandwidth, your ISP will have to find some way to compromise with their other customers, sometimes this comes in speed limits and crap. Hence, "There is no such thing as unlimited bandwidth", you may not have a CAP, but you will get some downsides if you use a fuckton of bandwidth in one go. Or you pay to raise the limit of your fair usage (they will just turn around and ignore you if you use a lot of bandwidth so to speak). Cables and servers can only send so much and store so much data. ISPs need some way of keeping consistent speeds, otherwise they lose customers. This is going by Britain's infrastructure mind you, and most of our ISPs are shoddy.
I live in Sweden and I have unlimited bandwidth. Also I'll be a bit fair now and say: PC users are really used to checking through the list of available servers, why not try this out? You might all be completley wrong, this system might actually be good. I know I am forced to use it on the console because well it's smoother and I've never ever seen anything wrong with it. I do prefer the PC style however, available servers and all.
By the way, is that guy with the mohawk we keep seeing Soap or some other random guy?
Yeah, that's soap.
I think IWNet sounds fancy.
