Actually it was CoD 2. I had infinitely more fun playing with 3 of my friends together in my living room than I would have by myself online with that game on a PC, and the games following that were all quite geared towards this style of play. I've never tried CoD 1, but regardless of how much it may have been intended for the PC, you can't expect a series to maintain the same goals after so many sequels.
Ah, what the hell am I doing. I'm on a forum dedicated to PC gaming, in a thread populated entirely by disgruntled PC-only gamers, what do I expect will happen if I voice a different opinion from the rest of the trash talking in here.
If we wanted to play like you then we would, we don't.

Hey, you know what? Public studies show that when the ratio of opinions in a topic is 100:1 then, maybe the "one" is wrong.

Opinion is never wrong.

My opinion is that I enjoy playing this game and 4 of the previous sequels on the Xbox 360 more than the PC, which I have also tried, and that the developers are likely putting more focus on creating this as a console game, due to the fact that they're crossing over traditional console features like $60 pricetag and matchmaking system to the PC. Can't see how that's wrong.
my opinion is wrong!
Opinion and belief are different things, by the way. Believing the Earth is flat is wrong, but having an opinion that the Earth is boring can't be wrong.

If 100 people's opinion is that jumping off that cliff is cool, and one guy's opinion is that its stupid, I don't think that one guy is wrong.
And if he is wrong at least he's alive
So, in case people missed it in the News Node, to which I don't blame you, it is confirmed that MW2 will suck ass on the PC now...
http://csnation.totalgamingnetwork.com/forums/showthread.php?p=1217465
• IW has control of the game
• IWnet servers will host multiplayer
• DLC will be a charged item for PC
• No dedicated servers
• Matchmaking system used to play with similarly ranked players
• VAC instead of PB
• Semi-capable password servers
• Semi-capable ad-hoc servers
• Competitive play is dead
• MW2 mods would not be possible
• Full integration into Steam
I don't think I've ever made a faster decision to buy a game on console than right now...:(
Wait, wait... So, its gonna be the same thing as FEAR 2 project origin was with the PCc multiplayer?
Are you sure?! o.O
Oh fuck...

:v:
So I'm going to need to install Steam to play this even if I buy it stand alone? That part makes me the most sad...

I see your point, i do enjoy splitscreen too take note that if MW2 splitscreen end being MW2 with shield class and new maps then i will rather be playing MW1 that what feels like MW1 expansion pack for more cost than a full game, but then again, than i also enjoy splitscreen doesnt mean i want my pc games to be console ports
also to bad nearly all the things in multiplayer in consoles are getting "ONLINE ONLY" wich kinda kill splitscreen

Doesn't change anything.
3 or 4 months ago MW2 seemed like it was gonna be another awesome game, like MW1 but ten times better! But now, everything really has been fucked up, and I don't really want to buy it anymore :sigh:

Yeah, they "love" their community too much.
Yeah, they love money too much.
fixed.
I think the multiplayer boycott is a bit over rated, since i think that IW would be smart enough to cover their fuck up by making the match making system actually good. They've already confirmed that you're able to filter on a set of custom rules, and most clannember where faggots anyway. Sure i'll miss being a regular on a server and absence of mods sucks. A ingame friendlist would be nice in some way so i don't have to be bitching on Xfire etc. all the time because i'm not able to join a server or some other random crap. I still prefer an out-of-game client anyway. The real dealbreaker is that that we'll have to pay money for map packs.

That's not an opinion.
I got bored and made this while watching pulp fiction.
"We have the best intentions for you at heart. We're gonna be using matchmaking instead of didicated servers"
*shows petition*
"Oh, I'm sorry, did I break your concentration? I didn't mean to do that. please, continue. you were saying something about best intentions...whatsa matter? oh, you were finished. oh Well allow me to retort. What were you thinking?
"matchmaking"
*throws table*
What made yo think this was a good idea?"
"the matchmaking will get rid of aimbots"
well what if it doesn't, is there a admin to get rid of him?
"trust us, the matchmaking will take care of it"
WHAT ABOUT BANDWIDTH MOTHERFUCKER, WE DON'T ALL HAVE UNLIMITED!
yes...but the matchmaking

Than you wont be host

with the matchmaking there wont--

"it'll be good...."

"it'll be fun"

"NOOOOOO"

"I wasn't"
YES YOU DID! YES YOU DID IW!, and we dont like to fucked like bitches!
fixed.
Hence the brackets.
I guess it just depends on perspective. It'll be the same experience for console players since nothings changed and by now matchmaking is a norm, even though sometimes it can be terrible. As a guy who has to play too graphically advanced games and the 360 I don't really care who I play with since if I have to fight an annoying guy I can just kill him a few times to shut him up.
For the PC the singleplayer remains the same but I guess if you've been used to dedicated servers your entire gaming career it'll be annoying to have fall back to a system with less control. A lot of console gamers started with consoles and have used them exclusively so they don't understand the level of community control many PC games have and PC gamers are used to.
But then there's also pirates, although there are console game pirates it happens more often for the PC. And I understand the companies' point of view too. I know most companies already make a ton of money, even with pirates, but like the players, they don't want to be stepped on. The argument that if "we let ____ company take away or benefits on PC, what's to stop other companies from doing the same later?" can be applied to the developers "If we let pirates take away our revenue they'll continue to do that, because the precedent has been set and they'll be used to getting away with it."
Now MW2 has increased prices, no deluxe editions, and no dedicated servers which comes to a big and sudden shock to PC gamers. The main benefits of PC games is being shattered all at once and that much of a change usually takes a while, if ever to adjust.
So what I'm trying to say is
3 or 4 months ago MW2 seemed like it was gonna be another awesome game, like MW1 but ten times better! But now, everything really has been fucked up, and I don't really want to buy it anymore :sigh:
What I don't see is the change in game quality in these last 4 months. The game and its gameplay itself could only get more polished over time unless the developers scrap a ton of ideas. The main things that have changed, for the PC at least, are the price and lack of dedicated servers. Although it sucks, it doesn't change the gameplay. It's still going to be the same frenetic, cinematic experience that we've come to known in MW1 and what we've seen from the trailers of MW2. It'll be hard to organize friends, harder/impossible to make mods, but it doesn't change the quality of the game, the graphics, the guns, the sounds, etc.

Having no communities changes the experience, in worst way.

Heh, I read on IMDB that Ghost in MW2 is gonna be voiced by the same guy who voiced Gaz. Maybe Ghost is actually Gaz? He was shot in the face with a desert eagle in CoD4, maybe he survived somehow, but his face got horribly scarred and everything, so he has to wear that mask all the time now?

Your theory is good. When the game is released, I bet there is going to be atleast one reference to "Sherley".
Yeah, he has a "real" identity, but I really hope Gaz comes back
