Anyone playing GA? I tried the PvE part and so far it's amazing. Got my recon on level 15.
Damn, talk about internet necromancy.
This game is good when you just want to dick around but I find it hard to play when you aren't teaming up with any friends. Anyone still play this? Would be cool to group up.

I'm playing, got Medic to level 14 and stopped on the Fly High mission as Recon. Might even buy Elite Agent.

Tried everyone except Assault, will try later. So far like Medic, he got a nice ability to heal himself quickly without slowing down and disabling power regeneration, unlike REST. Plus always helpful in team with Assault.

Before the game was ruined (for me, I'm an old-school "get off my lawn" player) I absolutely loved Medic, such a versatile class. You can go full healing, keeping that Assault alive while he tears enemy team several new ones, a good Medic can do that for a long long time. You can go full Poison and Recons and other Medics will hate your ass, even before that dumb Poison buff, in the right hands SMG and a set of Poison off-hands was deadly.
BTW, I tried Assault and so far not like him. Assault supposed to be a tank, but he dies as quickly as everyone else. Still love Medic. Now to play extensively as Robo, haven't done that yet.

He has about 3500HP and like 50% resistance to everything else.
Assaults are kind of "eh" before lvl 30+ but after that they can be near immortal or really annoying. I used to play AOE Assault with Fagmalance. Completely annihilates EVERYTHING, as long as you use your shields and Power Stim correctly (I also had luck to get a [cccccc]Power Stim srop for one of the bosses).
Lvld up Medic to level 25, completed a LOT of PvE missions, so have to ask, after the mission with destroying 4 Colony Eyes I won't get any missions (excluding those little missions where I need to just talk with some people)? Oh, and I'm doing good as Medic (which is strange, never loved support classes in class-based games). A lot of high-level Assaults wrote thanks for me.
Finish those quests, they should open up more quests afterwards. Assaults are thankful because you're not being a dumbass, running around with poison, but instead being actually helpful to the team by letting Assaults push the point.
Well, when I did that mission where I need to rescue some doctor with russian name, some assault guy was with me, so I just healed him all the way while he dealt with robots. And we did just fine. He wrote in chat "good work medic" after. And again, you don't need to put real money to be good in GA, that makes me glad, so I'll grab myself Elite asap.
I wish I could get back into this game, but it just doesn't feel right anymore. Maybe after I upgrade my PC, though. Humm.
FOLKS, give me an honest break-down. Does this game have sustainable replay value?
FOLKS, give me an honest break-down. Does this game have sustainable replay value?
Do you enjoy TF2-like games and teamwork? Then yes.
Do you enjoy TF2-like games and teamwork? Then yes.
Talking about TF2.. When I played Robo, I felt like I'm playing Engineer from TF2. Same problems (need to place sentry on good position, don't forget about health or energy dispensers, watch for Recons and constantly repair buildings (btw it's more difficult since Robo's mechanic hand can't damage enemies, unlike Engie's wrench)), same arsenal, same gameplay. On my first Mercenary mission I just put sentry and health dispenser on good corner where it can shoot enemies capturing CP, just as I always did in TF2. Recons and Tanks gave a lot of problems, but people covered me and my sentry killed a lot of enemy forces. We won this one.
There's several other ways to play Robo, the way you played is standard but if you feel like having some fun (but not being as much real help as standard Robo) you can try what I've been doing. Take a Personal Turret or Flame Turret, Force Wall and Lockdown Drone. Equip A.R.C. Repair Arm, this is the only build that makes it useful. Fly behind enemy point, preferably without them seeing you, preferably in some kind of corner. Drop everything. Repair it with A.R.C. so that it builds faster. Then L-Click repair your Turret to give it huge damage buffs. Force Wall will keep you safe from Assaults, Lockdown Drone will prevent enemies from getting behind your turret or running away. A.R.C. will give your turret enough damage buff to obliterate anything without a ballistic shield as long as your skills are right. Of course you won't be able to sit there for a long time but this is a hit-n-run build. Drop, kill, escape, drop kill, escape. By harassing enemy team you will draw them away from the objective, especially if you do it well. [editline]20th January 2012[/editline] oldfag tl;dr post
Sounds interesting, gonna try it. Also hate stupid noobs who saying I'm bad medic. So, playing Spec Ops high sec. A Robo comes in room with a shitload of enemies, armed with shotgun. I healing him. He believes he's a tank and of course dies cause no heal gun can save him from like 10-20 androids gunning him down, and he even haven't thought about building something. Next thing on chat - "wtf medic" and after he failed again, ragequit. Good enough reason to build our own FP agency. Playing with casuals isn't fun.

I also hate people who scream "Medic where the fuck are you?!" when I'm the only medic on the team, backing up an Assault on the main point. Medic actually is the easiest class to play solo Spec Ops with, because you just won't ever die.
FOLKS, give me an honest break-down. Does this game have sustainable replay value?
I found PVE quests to be lame, but once you hit level 10 you can go to PvP. I have over 100 hours and almost all of it is PvP. I would be playing more of it if there was more than 7 matches on at a time. Population has kinda died... Probably because lack of major updates.
I wouldn't say population is dead, there's a lot of people playing.
I wouldn't say population is dead, there's a lot of people playing.
Well seven matches on at a time isn't really populated...
Well seven matches on at a time isn't really populated...
Have you ever checked all gamemodes in one go? There's usually a lot of matches going on in total, especially when its raid or DA time. Theres usually lots of people in queues also, but thats mostly because the merc queue keeps breaking and not letting anyone in Oh and dont forget about all the people in the deserts doing dailys and stuff
Seems like this game is dying off to me. Meh, I wish I hadn't spend $50 on it in January of 2010.
Hi-Rez is just busy with Tribes, that's why we can see lack of updates and less people playing. I'm sure after they finish with Tribes, GA will be in huge priority again.
Hi-Rez is just busy with Tribes, that's why we can see lack of updates and less people playing. I'm sure after they finish with Tribes, GA will be in huge priority again.
When they're finished with Tribes they will start on a new project. GA already died with the introduction of F2P. That was their business plan. First they make GA B2P and introduce Boosters. That makes everyone who's interested in playing the game buy in and the ones who play it regularly, buy Booster. Then when everyone who wanted to play GA already bought it and they weren't receiving anymore sales (and they started Tribes around the same time), they made it F2P to make people that weren't interested in GA primarily, try the game for free and when they liked it, buy Elite Agent. This resulted in extra money flow to Hi-Rez but at the same time it showed that they won't really do anything with it anymore. Some small expansions followed since then but the prime time of GA has already passed.
