As far as dropped items go, they're just allowing full armor/weapon drops in PvE along with the scraps/plates you come across. Except the weapons have boosted stats and can be upgraded with "Upgrade Kits" which are supposed to replace the normal weapon upgrades we already use by crafting from blueprints.

So, I've been reading up on modding weapons, which I've become a huge fan of now, and I think it's brilliant. With my main character being a robotics (secondary to be decided, it's either a medic or an assault, seeing as I'm a horrible sniper) I can mod my weapons based on necessities. For example, I can mod my med hub for increased range and more healing, or my autocannon or rocket turret for increased range and more damage, or even my rumbleblaster for a faster rate of fire and less power pool intake. I think the limitless customization abilities here are fantastic, I'm a huge fan. Then armor, which will pad my stats, this is great. Now I need to grind for mats to increase my crafting skills.

Also, testing for phase A ends tonight, and we move onto phase B (hopefully, and I'd assume) later this week. Phase B is the AvA changeover, and I think if we can assemble enough people into the FP agency we can hold at least one hex (but only one, I can't be arsed to maintain multiple hexes and pay taxes with you lot). That is if we get more than ten people into the group. Plus, we get to decide our hours of operation. I think this will be a great opportunity, granted, we want to take it. I'll be subscribing, most likely, so I can head into AvA when I want to, and get conquest tokens for the new weapons. It's something like four (base) tokens a day just for subscribing, and six possible extras per day for competing in certain things (PvE, AvA, etc?). I'm pretty excited for this new patch. Any and all GA members on FP, I'm calling you to enlist in the FP agency so we can get new guns

Oh yeah, and non-subs get 2 conquest tokens a day for doing something. I think it's being part of an agency that does AvA, but I'm not sure if there's any options for other earnings each day. And then, you can get the new weapons via PvE, too.

Update on 1.3(A) testing, HiRez has re-opened PTS and players are automatically set at level 39, with some amount of mercenary and conquest tokens for the new weapons. A defense (akin to L4D's "Survival" gamemode) map is on the playlists now, so I'd suggest trying that. I won't be trying this out until the Live release, partially because I don't want to spoil it for myself, and the other part is because I've just moved and don't have proper internet as of yet. Hopefully they hook up my cable and internet soon so I can level on Live, at 32 right now.

Also, I think I ran into a fellow FPer on Live the other day, Ryann, if I'm correct?

The update is on the PTS which is available to those who bought the game already. I reccomend it, but the actuall update for the whole game hasn't been released yet outside of the Public Test Server.

Wait just a minute. HiRez promised 1.3 in early May. It's still not out (outside of the "test servers") I wasn't expecting it, but still, they should go hang out with Valve and have a "can't keep a deadline" party.

Yeah, that was initially, but that was also before they decided to divide it into four parts. I'm still not quite sure if they've kept the four parts, either. But, 1.3(a) was on PTS in early May, so I was satisfied there. I think they're finalizing the game with this weekend's testing phase now, and I'm hoping for a release in early June. The new armor mods seriously buff health, though. +10% health per slot, and there's sommat like seven or eight. Pretty sweet. Haven't tried the weapon mods, though. Those look fun.
