:saddowns:
I'll find a better one! :argh:
Seriously, I'm pretty happy that they're making it for consoles as well. It just means it'll scale better to lower-end computers, which means that more people will be able to access it. Plus, it's still Crysis, and there's no way in hell they're going to make it look worse than the first, so we still get the "CAN IT RUN CRYSIS?" crowd.
Of course. Crysis 1 was popular because of it's visuals, it would be a crazy idea to dumb down visuals in the sequel.
Yeah, broo20 as much as i know you have experience with games (I know him in RL) you are wrong with this crysis 2 thing. The video was comparing crysis 2 on console to the pc version of the game and as we all know PC's often have better GrAfIx then consoles. Also after reading what you said about the game being "dumbed" down for average computers all the game is doing is including more levels of detail.
GET OUT OF HERE STOP UNDERMINING ME.
caps
[editline]01:25PM[/editline]
I renounce what I said about it being dumbed down for PC, but it is being dumbed down for the consoles.
Also, PLEASE NO VTOLS!
[editline]01:26PM[/editline]
Also, think about how bad the Cryengine 2 looked indoors, now think about a massive somewhat similar environment.

That was a simple problem with the way the bloom was handled and was literally a 5 minute fix if you edited the TOD files.
I don't know why everybody wants aliens to go away. Literally the only reason I'm even remotely interested in this (apart from graphics ofc) is that I want to see how the fuck they beat the aliens. The faster they get you fighting some more fucking aliens the better I say.
And the VTOL section wasn't that bad. The controls aren't that bad for it. The problem is you don't know the controls, and you have about 5 seconds to magically learn them before getting flinged into outer space by a tornado.
So now it's Crackdown?
What?
Yeah yeah they supersampled the fuck out of it and used higher res textures so it looks smooth, who cares, are you guys using your eyes to look at this shit? There's realistic sunlight reflections from the windows on the street. They have global illumination in CryEngine 3 and they're probably gonna damn well use it. They have deferred rendering with anti aliasing. This is the most awesome graphics card melting thing I've ever seen. They have non-shitty bloom, heck I think maybe it's a lens flare simulation. The shaders are nice and pretty and there's pretty nice detail far into the background.... damn.
I mean... Dayum.
Global illumination is gonna look so good in-game.

Holy hell. That's awesome.
that nanosuit looks really hot to wear
OP is stupid, there is no way they would chuck one of the main game mechanics away, ability swapping will remain in crysis 2, only the nanosuit got an upgrade.

I'm guessing both. Ability swapping with ability to upgrade abilities e.g. "I have power level 5, speed on 3, armor 2 and fucking awesomely 9 on cloak."
Please tell it will support seamless maps.
The new armor is more realistic. Remember there is a man in it.
The new armor is more realistic. Remember there is a man in it.
I prefer my stuff to look good instead of looking realistic.
I don't know, does it even look different?

Looks almost like concept art.

Indirect illumination will make indoor scenes look amazing.
The cryengine doesnt look bad for indoor areas.
This is what i made a year ago with sketchup and a few textures, you can see that its not really detailed
in the interior but the textures still make it look "good".

Notice the unbelievable shitty graphics when the flashes appear, lighting is everything for graphics.
I'm sorry, but this looks pretty shitty
I agree. Way too much bloom and contrast.
I really don't care if the game play is shit, all that matters is the sdk and the new tools.
The game itself is just a huge ad for the new engine and what it can do, just like Ut3.
So is there any real screenshots of the game yet? not some pre-rendered photoshop enhanced bullshit that doesn't represent the real ingame graphics at all?
Remember this?

Erm WTF happened to the aliens and I thought the Koreans and Americans became allies at the end.

that wasnt rendered or photoshopped. The gameplay looked exactly like that.
They just somehow decided not to make it look like that in the final version. Same with the water waves, they just cut it.
Which is sad because those alpha screens look fuckin awesome.
there is going to be a new suit in the game, that is for sure. Crytek have ditched the switching between super powers mechanic and have traded that in for a small amount of constant powers that are upgradeable.
nooooooooooo

Yeah but it doesn't work as a tech demo when no developers want to use the engine because it alienates a massive group of gamers who can't afford to run it on highest settings.

pretty much everyone with a $500 computer could run crysis at medium which still looks better than most games and with decent framerates

Crysis at medium graphics doesn't look anywhere near as good as Unreal 3 on highest. So no, it doesn't look better than most games at all.
