Other than graphics, ce3 has many other useful features. And now when it has gone multiplatform, I can see more devs using it.
Comparing graphics engines is moronic. CryEngine can look like shit, Unreal can look like shit. It's the dev's that make the game look great, not just the engine. e.g.
Comparing graphics engines is moronic
It is to you, but to game devs comparing game engines is vital.
Crysis at medium graphics doesn't look anywhere near as good as Unreal 3 on highest. So no, it doesn't look better than most games at all. [editline]04:46PM[/editline] http://img166.imageshack.us/img166/6613/crysis2008012709254510vb5.jpg Compared to: http://evilmrfrank.com/images/BIA4.jpg
To be honest the Crysis pic looks much better.
YAY EYE CANDY, forget abount the retarded history and "we have to finish this shit in time" ending!

A computer than can only run crysis on all mediums is not going to be able to run unreal with full AA and maxed out everything. Sorry. Plus, the Crysis pic looks better anyways.
I thought UE3 didn't have any AA (or that it was extremely buggy?)
I thought UE3 didn't have any AA (or that it was extremely buggy?)
Certainly seems to be the case, never seems to be in an Unreal Engine games I've played (And please, don't insinuate that it's my rig, is new as of the beginning of this year and cost a lot - and that's being custom built. I've been building/buying computers for years, so I know what I'm doing) And Crysis certainly has AA, unless I'm just imagining that setting (I'm not)
There is AA in some UE3 games, there isn't in some others. It's if devs add it or not.
There is AA in some UE3 games, there isn't in some others. It's if devs add it or not.
No, it depends if nvidia or Ati gives enough money to make AA exclusive for their cards in some games, like Mass Effect. It uses Ut3 engine yet you can't use AA with Ati cards, how come?

So what, you say ue3 games that have no AA means that neither ati or nvidia paid them to have AA?
So is there any real screenshots of the game yet? not some pre-rendered photoshop enhanced bullshit that doesn't represent the real ingame graphics at all? Remember this?
that's bullshit though, i can get my game looking much better than that second screenshot people have gotten identical results as the first screenshot with engine commands. it was simply a fact of crytek shipping the game with a lot of the advanced settings disabled by default god knows why they did that, i could only speculate

Looks great and I'm very happy about the lack of flying aliens so far and the cool-looking humanoid enemies. The deal breaker is whether or not you can stealth around, so far their new suit system sounds stupid.

But if cloak mode is similar to the first game you will probably run out of power in a matter of seconds with speed mode.

That happens to reflect rather badly on your game as a whole. It makes it feel out of reach.
I don't know, maybe it has something to do with people not liking 1-2 fps? That happens to reflect rather badly on your game as a whole.
GDC Trailer http://gamevideos.1up.com/video/id/28333
Can tell the difference between consoles and PCs already lol. Hope the physics aren't that bad on PC, it didn't look too good

It's like leaving an achievement out of a game because it's too hard.
Umm... ~30 fps @1080p 2x AA (top left corner)
1. Screen res? 2. Crysis was released in 2007. I'm going to go out on a limb here and guess that that pic is using a 5000 series card. My point being that including those advanced settings is unnecessarily high, and would only serve to scare people off. Obviously they failed anyways, since people still regard Crysis as "That game with really high system requirements" today. Edit: Actually, the 200 series wasn't out either, and running this on highs with my old 9800GTX+ made it cry.
so turn the settings down maybe? That's stupid. It's like leaving an achievement out of a game because it's too hard.
You obviously completely misunderstood what I just said.
GDC Trailer http://gamevideos.1up.com/video/id/28333
Proper object deformation. Finally.
1. Screen res?
1080p
In my opinion, Crysis is really optimized for what it is. People who say Cryengine sucks are people who can't run it.
In my opinion, Crysis is really optimized for what it is. People who say Cryengine sucks are people who can't run it.
Oh god, this 100 times.
In my opinion, Crysis is really optimized for what it is. People who say Cryengine sucks are people who can't run it.
I agree too, it runs awesome on such visuals.
The cryengine doesnt look bad for indoor areas. This is what i made a year ago with sketchup and a few textures, you can see that its not really detailed in the interior but the textures still make it look "good". Notice the unbelievable shitty graphics when the flashes appear, lighting is everything for graphics.
Then edit your TOD to have a quick flash of bright, blinding white light when the flashes appear you lazy dick. It's only going to look good if you actually put in effort.

EDIT: I fucking hate that they are taking out the power system (maximum armor, maximum strength). For me that was like what made crysis so original. And from what I understand crysis2 will be like an RPG ( upgradeable suit )

wrong thread fuuuuck
CE3 better have more RELEASED mods than CE2... I got Crysis when it came out hoping for awesome mods, what is there so far? Mechwarriors Living Legends, and that's about it.
I get the feeling this game will suck. The graphics certainly won't be impressive anymore, and the gameplay will probably be too linear and uninspired.
