A. You haven't seen the gameplay so there's nothing to back it up B. Just because they're making it on consoles doesn't automatically mean it's going to be worse, by your logic half-life, half-life 2, TF2, portal, portal 2, L4D and L4D2 are all worse then they could've been just because it's on a console
That's what my post that you quoted said you idiot (though I feel that L4D and L4D2 sucked, and that L4D2 was only born due to consoles, but I have enjoyed alot of ported games, BUT THIS IS CRYSIS 2'S THREAD).
The Nanosuit looks stupidly muscular. The old one was better. I'll get this as long as Crytek realise how to optimise shit. Hopefully this will be better than just pretty graphics too, but I'm not getting my hopes up.
This one actually looks like it fits with the muscles, the old one was impossible to work, every area had the "muscles" facing the wrong way and thus would work horribly.
Consoles have influenced decisions for stuff, he even admits that the streamlining of the nanosuit is becuase console gamers are easier to throw a game away if the first impressions aren't good. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, it gives some direction and focus for the dev team and it's more like they're making a hybrid than just a console based or PC based shooter.
Crytek said that if it doesn't scale for consoles, it's not going in, unless I'm mistaken (therefore it is going to be worse as far as graphics go). For gameplay I'll wait and see before judging.
I haven't heard them say that, but I've heard Cevat say that if he wants something going in, it IS going to happen and how is the only question. And the graphics will look as good as possible on PC then in real time the engine puts all the base stuff from the PC on the consoles then scales them up from there, while they're making the maps. A lot of people's PCs have lower specs than consoles so they'll probably account for those in terms of how far they can go base-wise, the first Crysis was probably limited to the lower end PCs too so that those people could at least play on low settings.
i wish they would release some maxed out PC screens instead of console screens.
Those new ingame screens look like shit imo... Well, what did I expect they focused on consoles, textures look incredible shitty, there are almost no normal maps for the surroundings and so on...
i wish they would release some maxed out PC screens instead of console screens.
I think those are PC screens, because the screenshots are in 1080p, and the consoles probably cannot run it at that resolution. With that said, I really expected Crysis 2 to look much better than how it does now. Although I have to admit the nanosuit hands look nice...
Richard Morgan as the writer gives me high hopes for this - if you've read Altered Carbon and the other two books in the Kovacs Trilogy, you'll understand why.
Jaehead, they could be upscaled console pictures. While most console games don't run 1080p, it doesn't mean they can't display it.
They are console images, I have my sources. Also the PC version looks ridiculously better.
The reason they made the new suits stupidly muscular is obviously because kids love gears of war type people and also to secretly increase the hitbox size for the consolized sequel. :v:
http://crymod.com/thread.php?threadid=60191 I found these quite interesting, it will be to anyone familiar with Cryengine 2. These however I find more interesting: http://next.videogame.it/crysis-2/86462/ (long private interview with Cevat Yerli) http://next.videogame.it/crysis-2/86167/ (private interview with Richard Morgan (writer)) The one with Cevat explains why they did things like set it in New York, streamline the nanosuit controls and he mentions that Free Radical (Timesplitters) are working on multiplayer. If anyone's still butthurt about consoles then you're being irrational.
Wow, those interviews actually make me excited. I could listen to these guys talk about Crysis 2 all day.
