yeah i've already lost hope. I'm not paying money for WHAT SHOULD BE IN THE GAME.
No. I played more then 600 hours of Zero Hour. FUCK THIS. this is not Generals, this is CnC 5. This is a bunch of Futuristic shit. Command and Conquer has been killed

How was generals 1 not 20 minutes into the future? Half the stuff the US had was experimental or protype tech which is often not available even today.

20 minutes into the future. Not 9 light years

Tiltrotor copters are pretty old inventions tbh, just haven't been used lately that much.
The tanks looked odd, but not "lightyears" ahead of modern day. More like modern day tanks with wasteful design and bunch of decorative bullshit on top of it.

Hey now we've barely seen it, if they have a gameplay video and it still looks ultra futuristic, then yeah, we can shit on it.

Fucking.
Ion.
Cannon.
Fucking.

Ion cannon is from the Tiberium branch.
Particle cannon's the Generals one, and it is really fucking futuristic. Still, the poster I was replying to was implying that Generals stuff is "20 minutes in the future", while Generals 2 is lightyears in future. So I wasn't saying that Generals isn't futuristic, I was trying to say that Generals 2 isn't much more futuristic than Generals.

Laser weapons too. The point of generals was to make a game set in a modern relatable setting with terrorism and stuff. The game almost served as a mockery of the actual wars in Iraq. I loved it.
Generals and particularly zero hour is one of the most unbalanced multiplayer games I've played though :P Much better as a single player campaign and skirmish game.
ALL I CARE IS THE FUCKING WALLS ARE BACK
[editline]13th December 2011[/editline]
And chinese hackers please
ALL I CARE IS THE FUCKING WALLS ARE BACK

Suddenly.
Chinese Hackers.
Chinese Hackers everywhere on the map.
Okay, the game is fucked
Depends on how it's handled.
1 new pay-to-win unit for 9.99€? Yep, game quite ruined. 1 new faction for 14.99€? That's actually good.
yeah that's what Generals ended at, US lost the war and china had to mop up GLA from Europe leading to Eurasian Union.
not even kidding.
Huh? I didn't remember the US loosing anything. Aren't all the endings mutually exclusive, anyway?

No, that's still bad. The game was announced a few days ago and they have already announced there will be a large amount of DLC - basically they took out content just to sell it for more.
It should be expansions.

It's not like they could not take content out of the game and sell it as an expansion.
Or do expansions have some kind of magical protection from terrible shit like that?
Huh? I didn't remember the US loosing anything. Aren't all the endings mutually exclusive, anyway?
nope they actually go in time schedule, the USA campaign is first, then GLA then China, USA is winning at first then GLA kicks their ass in Europe sinks their navy with their own weapons and shit and then China comes in and mops GLA from whole Europe.

Expansions aren't announced before the game is even released, usually a few months after.
Suddenly.

There is ALWAYS a way in!
I will cripple their facilities!
Honestly, did anyone here ever use hackers for more than just money?
Facepunch... I...
I'm usually the guy that doesn't go spelling doomsday shit on titles that are yet to be released... I might not like the way it looks, but hey, I haven't played it yet! And yet, there's absolutely nothing good that I can see in this project.
Sure, Bioware working on it sounds like a trainwreck to a lot of people already, but it goes deeper than that. If EA has its dirty hands in it, then little good can come out of it. ESPECIALLY if it's a CnC title. Just check back on EA's Command and Conquer history:
CnC3 was rushed. Kane's Wrath even more so. Both games literally DIED after 2 months of absolutely no support. EALA promised for months to deliver patches that the game urgently required, while the community slowly dwindled. The game could have been so much more... but the staff kept fending off the player's pleas for bug fixes with the excuse that "the staff is working on its next project"...
Which would be RA3. Remember how they pushed a "beta" before it went gold, "squeezing" the release just in before Blizzard's Wings of Liberty? Yeah, EA saw profit in the whole "e-sports" idea (LOL @ BATTLECAST PRIMETIME) and promised support.
I didn't stay on that trainwreck long after the beta, so I don't know exactly how long it lasted... but taking a look at "Uprising", its stand-alone expansion released shortly after, I'm sure it was nothing short of crap.
Then there's EA cancelling Tiberium. And of course, the sprawling abomination that is CnC4.
I believe that there's no other franchise in EA's grasp that embodies everything that's wrong with the video game industry today better than CnC. It's why I don't flinch when saying that I can't see this game being any better than its bastard brothers.

I like how you completely skirt around the fact that EA ruined Tiberium Sun, which to be honest was the CnC game that had the most fucking potential ever in the history of command and conquer.
And they fucked it up.

Aye, that could be a valid point too... but you might have noticed that I limited myself to EA exclusively as a developer and not as Westwoods publisher.
Nukes and Particle Cannons please.
And Mod capabilities.

God did I love my nukes.

Size, and impact on the metagame.
A faction DLC will probably allow both people with and without it to play against each other, but only those that have bought it can actually play as them, test as them and formulate strategies with them.
And it has to be bought if it's stronger than any of the "base" factions.
On the other hand, an expansion comes a while later, adds a large amount of content and in essence forces everyone to change. As a result the metagame and balance still keeps more or less in line.
On top of that you usually cannot play against people with the expansion when you don't own it.
As to RA3 - I think people forget it, that it was actually the most balanced and playable of all the recent CNC games. It had an awfull campaign, even more awefull unit designs, but it had playability and balance.
So long as there isn't scrin air dominating matchmaking, or 4 minute nod tank rushes.
I think I will give generals a fair shake.
(also C&C4 is fun, fucking bolos everywhere)
Too sad that there will be no Frank Klepacki's song.

DLCs and crap? I'm guessing no map editor.
