Lux otherwise is a CC-oriented nuker with high cooldowns.

Ninja tabi is pretty much required item to lane against Gangplank. If you don't you'll die faster than you can hiccup when you have eaten dry toast covered in sand.

Rush it early on someone like Singed who you're going to be build HP on anyway and it's a good choice. Highest base armour value item aswell. Don't know why people hate on it so much. To negate the damage return the enemy needs MR (which if they are an AD carry makes them chance their build) or more lifesteal. Can't remember the exact value but even on Heim (lowest base Armour) the enemy would need upwards of 20% lifesteal to negate the thornmail damage. It's not as useful in a group as say Randuins, but it has a place for pacifying lanes from poke and forcing the enemy to build other items. Also, rambling, but I played a game the other day that was super even, they had 3 bruisers who all bought thornmail; theyt absolutely rolled us in the next team fight because all the bruisers could CC and damage hard and they had so much Armour and HP that we couldn't get them off the carries. It has its place, its just not god tier.
