It's actually because after most melee tops hit level 5-7 and become too tanky for autoattacks to hurt them, they can use their gap closers and mow down the poor AD carries. But this isn't the case with draven since he is so strong top early that they can't do anything to come back, and then even later on in lane, he'll be able to have his blood rush to run away or have double spinning axes to do way too much damage.

it also gives crit chance which is crucial for yi plus its active is really only used in conjuction with highlander so its cd doesnt matter

About tanky DPSes Spell oriented champs like Renekton, Lee, Riven, Panth, Talon don't need AS at all. It's a huge waste on them and you cripple their damage by not buying more AD Autoattack oriented tanky DPSes like Noc, Skarner, Soraka, Yi, Warwick, Shaco, Sion need AS so getting permanent AS is much better and reliable. If you're tanky DPS get Wit's end(if you don't have loads of AD) or Zeke's fervor(if you have loads of AD and guardian angel), if AD carry or dunkmaster get Phantom Dancer. Brutaliser is good. So if you need CDR, just get brutaliser. If you want more or you don't need flat AD(e.g. Skarner, Yorick, Warwick) just get Frozen Heart which is fricking cost efficient as hell. crit chance is factored in, so that is a non-factor with highlander, you already have insane movement speed, getting more would be redundant, and movement speed bonuses begin to taper off, since after 490 movespeed, movespeed bonuses are reduced to 50% of the original, so Ghostblade + highlander would only give 10% movespeed, which is shit. and how does cd not matter? after highlander and ghostblade is done, you'll have nothing left.

but assuming your point about the nature of Yi is true, you can have, during highlander: -50% attack speed -30 AD -25 ArPen -15% crit or: -30% attack speed -55 AD -45 armor shred (TBC has more damage by far) and if we take the point back to the graphs, with his ultimate, it would be an increase in both curves, which means that TBC would still be VERY far ahead in damage with highlander activated and the only thing that redeems ghostblade (not really) is the extra 10% movespeed which doesn't matter at all, so: with TBC: -your damage during highlander is much higher -your damage without highlander is MUCH higher -you help your teammates deal more damage to the target with ghostblade: -you have 10% bonus MS during highlander -less damage at all times [editline]1st July 2012[/editline] so you win either way with TBC with or without ultimate and you also fix the fact that yi is shitty without his ultimate, while making his ultimate stronger than what it would be with ghostblade, and what it would be without ghostblade
