• Restrictions on video games

My parents let me play all the violent video games I wanted, and I have gone on hundreds of real life killing sprees since. Oh wait, no, my parents explained that it was a game and it's much different than real life.
ive always been alowed to play 18 games and watch 18 movies. god i watched an 18 zombie movie when i was 4-5! my dads always said "as long as the kid knows whats right and whats wrong, then it shudnt really matter." the only thing i was really protected from was sex. but that only lasted til i was about seven lol. so im 14 and been playing 18 games since i was about 3 or 4. and to be honest, i think people who say games corrupt poeple and people who blame gta for their actions are complete FUCKTARDS! i dont feel at all affected by any games. so all you restrictive parents out there......you are seriously unfair!
Yep, its a proven fact that video games corrupt your mind and turn you into a serial killer.
so does the bible and what not else:) but like religious murders this only applies to fucked up brains anyway.
but yeah that's about it. i wouldn't worry about it, a good tactic is keeping the kid off 11+ rated games (danish rating system) untill he/she's about 9-10. that's how i got raised. and it worked.
if you need to feel stronger than a kid, this is the maximum level of discipline that i advice. but don't go too early either. anything above that is hysterical and laughable.
As long as people know whats real and not real, There shouldnt really be Restrictions, But in the end of the day, its the parents job to decided if their children can play a higher age rating game.
Erm well I used to but know I can get any game, when I was 13 I wasnt allowed 18s then GTA 4 came out and I begged and begged and begged now I can get anything. Im 15 btw
My parents don't check the ratings, dad asks what graphical content is in it, but he doesn't give a shit. He knows i'm already adjusted to it all. Since Australia's highest rating is MA+15 ( I think ) I'm basically covered for any game.

Been watching R rated movies since I was born and have never have any restrictions on games, it's called trust. My parents trust that I'm not enough of an idiot to "simulate" Doom at a school. I almost feel bad for the kids that have restrictions, they miss out on so much. Besides, I generally always bought my games, so it was mine, whether they approved or not.
My parents are if anything too non-restrictive. http://steamcommunity.com/id/smurfster1 I mean, look at that shit! 161 games! 161 games!!! I haven't even installed half of them!
I remember, the only real thing my parents cared about was mostly the swearing. I was playing the Half-Life campaign when I was around 4, Jumbot around 5, and then they only then let me play online with some friends of my dads, so that they wouldn't swear. Afterward was pretty much free skies. However, I'm still not allowed to buy a gas mask.
I don't have the money to buy violent video games. :(
Naw, my parents are pretty cool. When I was playing Left 4 Dead (last year, I was 15) and walking into that bathroom covered in blood on Dead Air, the first level, my dad just said "Ew, that's gross." then walked out.
I have a little brother. I want Mass Effect. :argh:
Buy it :flashfap:
By what I said earlier was aimed at multiplayer games. I don't want little shitheads who talk about "Yu-Gi-Oh!" on a mature rated game.
I don't get the big deal. I was never restricted to what games we could get, that doesn't mean I always went out and got that month's GTA or Manhunt, or whatever, I just got what I thought looked fun. The violence is just there. Me and my cousin would spend hours just running around as raptors in Turok 2 on the N64. Just running around in Deathmatch playing around.
my parents couldn't even dream of putting a limit on what i see or do anymore, they know that attempting to censor the internet for me is out of their control. [editline]11:31PM[/editline] Halo 1 was my first ever M rated game
Does that rating mean that M rated games don't go there or are they just re-rated?
I think I got it wrong, I think there's M and MA but I think max age is 16, not sure. No game places restrict a young person buying it.
Super Mario World gets you addicted to mushrooms!!!!
My parents started being very restrictive about it, i couldnt even play Jak II and III. But then they get cooler and cooler, i borrowed Fallout 3 from by big brother, i shot the head of some dude in the game while my father was sitting and watching me, then he said: "That game is violent, isnt it?" "Yes" i answered and he said: "Ok.". Then he went to do some clothes sorting stuff. He even sits and helps me with the game. I guess its because they finally begin to understand SOME of the stuff with games. My father played Wolfenstein with my big brother in the 90's, my bro was like 13-15 at that time, funny. ComboTroop is right.
