I can't get the code to work.
I type dofile(dd.."test_lua.lua") but the quotes won't work and it says test_lua.lua is a nil value.
I gotta say, man, this has to be the most impressive thing I've ever seen on this forum. This whole project is beautiful, and the way you pulled it off is astounding. I am eagerly awaiting the beta, please, please, please, keep up the awesome work, and take your time, so it stays awesome!
Soon it'll have shadows, too. Yes, it's all dynamic. As you move the lights, the lighting through the portals moves, and as you move the portals, the lighting through the portals moves. Dark room? No problem, go find some light, use your portals, done.
@ GamerKiwi: I think you must fail at reading: I do not provide support for the old dev. build anymore, people must stop using it (or use it, and stop asking me about how to make it work).

Holy fuck
Once you get some serious progress done on this to where it's running in full beta you have to Digg it, I'm sure this would grab the attention of alot of people :)

I'm working the shadowing, really, I'll get it done soon. It'll look a lot nicer than now.
Null, see my post from earlier, On this page?

No new versions, guys, do you want another crappy dev. build? No. So just wait until everything is finished. I'll definitely try to release before Portal 2, in case Valve "innovated" some "new" ideas ;)
Yes! We want another crappy dev build!
Actaully your last one was not crappy at all. Things can only get better.
There's no point for him to make a dev build, I'm fine with screenshots.

Screenshots, eh?
Ok, to regain all of your trust in waiting for the goods:

Nice.
I don't quite understand how Scalable portals work.. I could understand the image getting bigger as you expand the portal but what would happen if you went through a Portal and came out in one 1/4 it's size?

You would be 1/4 it's size... seamlessly.

Sexy lighting through portals!
Love what you're doing mate, keep it up.
needs more self shading props
Looks very impressive. From a gameplay point a view having moving portals for light looks like a interesting, dynamic touch.
needs more self shading props
The level itself is treated as one prop, all level shadowing is soft self shadowing.
I've got better screen shots to show, soon - soft self shadowing through portals. But not right now, got to get to school. As for lighting through portals - plan on including puzzles with pitch-black lighting, where you just need to get some light in there.

Woo! I can finally play this. I couldn't play it before on my Nvidia Geforce 5200FX, but now I have a ATI HD2600 Pro. It's really fun to make the cube really big and small.
I have a question though, when trying to through one portal through the other, it explodes back out, did you make it do this?
How I wish people would stop using the dev. build already...
He probably just did it for debugging or something, most likely fixed in the latest build. Speaking about the latest build, how close are we to beta?
What have you done to that beautiful song?

Yup. Beta... well, so far I need to do this:
- fix up editor materials to be compliant with the new lighting system
- make the lighting still fall back gracefully if not support
- fix up my player controller
- make some "test levels"
And then I can release a beta.
Also, no comments on the portal through portal lighting? I thought you guys wanted that stuff :|
Will double side collisions be in the next beta or have you already done that, I haven't kept up with the thread.

Yes.
Looks REALLY nice. Do you plan to release the engine?
I saw the portal through portal lightning.
It's awesome!
Just one question, what happens if you put the portals facing each other. Put them really close and fit a light between them.
Divide by zero? Forever loop? Terrible lag?
You should make something like the portal funnel setting in Portal, to make the light not bump forever.

Actually yeah, now there is lighting through portals, what the hell does it do when you put a light between them...
SuperNova?
Also, you should add your blog address to the front page.
