Fucking kids these days! :argh:
Bump,What's the progress,null?
Well, I just finished all of my finals for school and stuff. So not much progress, really. But now that the summer is coming up, Svenstaro and I are definitely going to pick up the pace.
Here is a candy shot for you graphics lovers, though:

(yes, there are obvious visual bugs, don't be annoying)

Hmm, I must be going blind.
The AO is delicious.

Wow that looks like the Unreal engine. Nice job.
Edit:
By the way, did you learn DirectX before doing this stuff? Or did you go straight into Ogre? Because right now I'm learning DirectX and Direct3D stuff.

I knew nothing about 3D before going into Irrlicht. Yes, Irrlicht. After messing with it for a while, then I switched over to Ogre. Still, though, I knew practically nothing, since I came from a 2D SDL background (the last thing I made was this game called Crazy Pong, the ultimate Pong with powerups and lots of balls). Ogre is pretty much where I got all of my 3D math skills (8th grade math in the US: 2x + 4 = 8, solve for x), along with shader coding (HLSL and CG, though the same knowledge can apply to GLSL) and what-not.

Well, there is some glow "leaking" from the bottom to the top of the screen if you look closely.

You are truely an inspiration.
While I'm impressed that you're fourteen and managing to do all of this, I dread to imagine your social life :/
Can you make the bloom more blurred and less intense? The kind of bloom you have in the screenshot with the yellow sphere reminds me of Unreal Engine 3, and in my opinion it's not a good one. It's too... unreal.

It's not bloom, it's glow. I absolutely hate bloom.

I dread to imagine how your stuck up mind works.
stuck up? ok.
2x + 4 = 8, solve for x
Is that it? That's really simple.
x = 2
Oh god.
Post this on the steam forums so valve will hire you.
I dread to imagine how your stuck up mind works.
I sorta agree with him, although it's arrogant for him to say it like that.
But I personally don't like how you think you're better than valve's Portal or something...
It would be better if he got a finished product before he posted it there.
Plus seeing as he is 14 I doubt he will be getting hired by them any time soon.

Yeah, this is in the honors math class, mind you. They gave us 1:15 to finish the final, I used up maybe 5-10 minutes. Then I proceeded to being obnoxious (constantly breaking the silence) because they wouldn't let us out early.

I don't, I never said that. If I did, I would've slammed this in Valve's face a long, long time ago.
While I'm impressed that you're fourteen and managing to do all of this, I dread to imagine your social life :/
I'm willing to bet that he has a more active social life than you and me and I can't even grab the basics of PHP coding.
Just because one is smart does not mean they struggle with social life.
Don't be so stuck up.

Well if the story line is exceptional and the puzzles are innovative (which they should be as there is TONS of potential for this game, it WILL be better than portal. Don't get me wrong, portal is a good game, but this is an engine built entirely based around the idea of portals (rather than using an engine built for something else like Portal uses Source), so it will be much more optimised, and this will make for an overall better experience.
Also, I think that what he has done is fucking fantastic, he coded this entire thing by himself (up until now, anyway - he is getting help from a friend) and you have no right to judge it in it's current form as it is not finished, and you have not had the chance to play it.
Personally, I respect null and I think he's doing a great job.
I wish I was as good as him a programming, the most I know is quite a bit of Game Maker's language and some French although last time I checked you can't code in French, which is a shame because I'd be great at it ;)

Well even though I think that's a pretty arrogant way to behave I sympathize with you seeing as that's what I spent the entire maths SAT doing.

He's 14 almost 15, he has a right to brag about this kind of stuff.
Bah, Direct3D is harder. It takes 3 pages of code to draw a triangle :D Not that you're doing a good job though.
Bah, Direct3D is harder. It takes 3 pages of code to draw a triangle :D
I fail to see how something being harder makes it better or more respected.
I fail to see how something being harder makes it better or more respected.
I know I'm just kidding
Edit:
I'm just jealous because I can't do that :v:
I'm willing to bet that he has a more active social life than you and me
I doubt that, not necessarily because of his skill at coding, but mainly because of his age. I have much more freedom than he does.
I wonder what more cool stuff you can push into this engine :v:

An actual game.

If you'd done that in an exam where I was still working I would have got up, walked over and broken your nose. It really, really pisses me off when people do that.
I'm going to play Serious Sam before I rage.

agreed, i had some stupid kid a row next to me humming and tapping shit while I was working on the final problem of an AP physics exam, drove me insane.
Honestly, if you wanted to get back at the teachers for not letting you out early, you shouldn't do something that could enrage some other kid to the point of bashing your face in. This does little to support the claim that your social life is richer than my own.
An actual game.
Agreed, I was going to say this myself. But then again, an "engine" doesn't have to involve a game. But Portalized being a game, yeah, definitely missing the game component.

Haha, you probably wouldn't do that if you know how I look. My second hobby being working out, I'm one of the bigger guys of the school. Especially since I'm a year older than everyone.

Hey, it probably wasn't his fault you're slow ;)
he was taking an entirely different exam than I was, mine was about 10x more difficult. :(
It's not bloom, it's glow. I absolutely hate bloom.

Well anyway, could you?
Oh and about the puzzle things, Portalized has light going through portals, right? How about some kind of light sensor that works just like the cubes and buttons in Portal, except with light?
