Crysis 2 Multiplayer Beta and how to play it TODAY (xbl gold only)
So you don't get all 4 modules, speed, stealth, power and armor when you play multiplayer? Or was that video with the funny loud guy not accurate about everything?
You have all the power functions, the modules enhance certain things. Think perks like in CoD only renamed.
In fact just consider this whole MP a mod for Call of Duty 4 where you play as guys from Crysis.
Crytek even said that the multiplayer demo on Xbox was simply a test to see how well it would run, and what they should tone down so it can work well.
[editline]26th January 2011[/editline]
And I agree, a singleplayer demo would have been much more welcome. Instead, people will think wrongly about the game and not buy it.
Who knows maybe they'll shit out a SP demo for PC.
(highly unlikely but it IS crytek!!)
1 hit kill melees don't work for this game's pace.
I concur, but you could always switch on, you know, maximum armor.

:v:
"look at that tree right there man, i like dat.. i like dat.. i like the way it looks"
In this game, you don't see death coming.
So wait I can't go MAXIMUM STRENGTH and throw a dumpster at people anymore
So wait I can't go MAXIMUM STRENGTH and throw a dumpster at people anymore
They cut out the middle man and now all you have to do is throw the dumpster and MAXIMUM STRENGTH takes effect.
AAHHH the graphics >:( also, the controls for the armour abilities are beyond awful. It should have been like Crysis 1 with the selector wheel type thing, press the stick down then move it around
I would have least preferred the option to regularly sprint and do normal melee. Like clicking down the left stick twice turns on speed and hitting melee twice turns on strength.

Remember that this is a console demo. It's obviously been streamlined for a gamepad as it'd be a pain in the fucking ass to enter a radial menu every time you wanted to switch up your powers. I know Mass Effect, Prototype and suchlike used these to great effect, but those froze the game while you selected what ability to use, you can't really do that in a multiplayer game. Additionally, there's no Tactical mode in multiplayer, which as far as I know is going to be in the singleplayer. Keep in mind that one of the plot points of Crysis 2 is that the player character has hijacked an advanced Nanosuit 2.0. The soldiers in the multiplayer could be using an older, cheap version meant for mass deployment, streamlined to let soldiers focus on the battle, rather than switching through individual suit modes. On the same note, I don't see any way they could do weapons with attachments in singleplayer other than either making them specific weapons like Call of Duty does or bring back the customization menu in some way. Also, to the people who are worried that the game isn't going to be as deep as the previous one, keep in mind that they'll let you upgrade your nanosuit in the singleplayer story, tailoring it to your needs much like how the upgrade system in Deus Ex worked.
Ok maybe I was wrong, it seems the puny xbox cannot handle real-time global illumination. What a shame.

oh my god.
Turn on audio transcription and prepare to laugh.
Whenever I try to join a game it disconnects just before the match starts. Every damn time. Wat do?
So yeah, Crytek said they are fixing the problems, and apparently, there are two maps. For some reason, the other map won't load. There is also a map veto system that does not work.
The best 2 strategies in my opinion
1. go stealth with shotgun
2. run round punching people
know any other good one's?
Am I the only person that thinks the orbital bombardment sounds like a freakin vuvuzela?
Jesus Christ, it's a bloody Call of Duty clone.
[editline]25th January 2011[/editline]
Pretty similar to Call Of Duty's,
3 kills=Radar that shows everyone on the map, works like UAV in BLOPS
5 Kills=Orbital Strike (Laser comes from the sky and kills the enemy's in the selected zone
7 Kills=Gunship--I have yet to see this but I imagine its just a helicopter type thing that flies around and shoots people
I hate getting killed by an Orbital Strike in call of duty...
Oh god forbid the multiplayer of a singleplayer heavy game is bad, you made the right choice! I wish I could have cancelled my Dead Space 2 pre-order!
Calling it single-player heavy is pretty silly. A game like Red Dead, Elder Scrolls or Mass Effect is single-player heavy. Crysis 2 will be about as single-player heavy as Call of Duty.
The sniper rifle doesnt seem like it was designed for xbox use. I can normally make the top 3 list with any other primary, but the sniper makes me too vulnerable.

Not really, since Crytek has been planning a detailed story and a longer-than-most-games singleplayer mode, according to one of the links in the Crysis 2 thread (it's in the OP of said thread. not this one.).
I'm looking forward to pc beta since that's what I'm mostly likely buying it on.

It's gonna be a long wait
The multiplayer is pretty unbalanced and seems like it was quickly thrown together, even if it wasn't. Just doesn't feel good in any way
Punching is just so.... awesome.
I'm #1 with 27 kills, 90% of which are punches.
#2 guy has 8 kills... must've been using a gun.

My punches do no damage at all, and every time I'm punched it makes some stupid noise and I die instantly. wtf
