How is Xcom creepy at all?
Dude, look at those pixels. There are like seven different COLORS
Oddworld: Abe's Odyssey used to scare the shit out of me as a wee bairn :tinfoil:
Anybody remember the sewers level in Serious Sam: The First Encounter? Now, that level... that level was something else. Scared the crap out of me when I was a kid, especially the parts in which you have to swim. That level is possibly to blame for my fear of deep water.

Anyone hear of Fiend? It's a gem lost in the crowd of shiny commercial diamonds.
Fiend is a a 2D survival horror game greatly influenced on the work of HP Lovecraft. You play as Nick Cane who is sent to the small town of Lauder to see if a mine contains any valuable minerals. Arriving at Lauder you suspect that all is not right with the town and slowly the visit turns into a nightmare. The game was released in 2001 and took around 2 years of work to finish. The engine is made using the allegro library and has features such as realtime lighting and particles effects.
It's pretty good. It's from the people who made Penumbra, so it's decently scary. http://frictionalgames.com/site/fienddownload/
Also, all S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games are good.
L4D and Dead Space didn't really scare me much. After a while I stopped playing them as horror games, and started playing them as really gory action games, which really killed the mood. Seriously, so many "horror games" get that wrong. Fast zombies have their place (like in HL2 where they appeared sparingly, and often in ways that caught you off guard) but when you're wading through mounds of their shattered bodies and are up to your chest in seas of their blood, the feeling gets lost. Play whatever you like to play I guess, I just wanted to get that out of my system. :eng101:
No one thinks L4D is a horror game. Well maybe people who think RE4&5 are. However I found Dead Space to be pretty scary. It was a action game. But it definetly had a lot of scary imagery and stuff.

I'm saying Dead Space is also an Action Game.
I'm saying Dead Space is also an Action Game.
Yeah, both L4D and Dead Space were more action games than horror. L4D in particular. So. Yesterday (when it was Halloween) I played a bunch of L4D and L4D2 demo. They're... horror themed! Does that count?
I've never been scared from L4D, maybe when a tank came out of no where, otherwise..
we dont have halloween in Brazil so yeah
Well you do. You just don't chose to celebrate it. Start it! November 2nd - Brazilian Halloween.
I played STALKER almost the whole day. Also, I played Dwarf Fortress with a horde of carp near by. That is pretty scary.
Killing Floor is pretty eerie on Solo.
That it is. I have some sort of phobia, say I load into a map on Gmod (mainly a multiplayer focused game) and I play by myself. I will start to get scared of being alone or something. I get really freaked out in any game like that. Especially Valve/Source games.
I personally find Pernumbra incredibly undeserving if it's praise. It's good. But totaly not that scary.
It's scary until you realize you can easily hammerfuck the dogs. Though the way you interact with the world is fairly unique. It reminds me of that tresspasser game for pc.

Like when I accidentally join a TF2 server that's empty.
Imagine doing that and you see the ghost!

I'm walking around the entrance to the nuclear bunker and that random wind sound starts playing. Worst is that it was the first time I played the map, so I didn't know if he put some monsters in the bunker or something. That dead quiet feeling gets to me, it also happens in STALKER.

(Not isometric or sprited).
I get so jumpy when i play STALKER, it's the when stuff jumps out at you that i don't like :/
I don't know Fred. That doesn't sound like a good idea. Gimme a scooby snack first! [editline]03:26PM[/editline] Oh, content. Dead Space is a must.
Cough cough http://halflife2.filefront.com/file/HalfLife_1_Afraid_of_Monsters_Directors_Cut;84089 cough...
