The siege has begun.
The Battle for Helms Deep will be decided in the next few hours.
Update 1:
The first wave made it to the front gate, but no further. The archers took some of them out but I had to go on the secret passage way next to the gate and kill them myself.
Wave 2: Larger horde, broke the front gate, we killed and repaired the gate.
5 dead - 2 random travelers I picked up, Owyn (The arena blademaster) and a Guard (A guard from the crowded roads mod, they are guards that are more frequent and patrol the roads), also a mage died.
2 zombified - 1 fighters guild member and a imperial legion ranger. They escaped before we could retake the first wall.
Some civilians were infected, and were cured. As a precaution, all the non-combatants (civilians mostly, but I gave every able-bodied male armor and weapons. Remind you of anything?) were sent to hide in the Helms Deep caverns until the siege is lifted. If need be, I will have to fall back to the keep and defend there, if we cannot hold it, then escape through the caverns will be our best bet.

Before the siege, I managed to rescue 2 more: Lord Rudgumph or something (Lives at the manor next to Helms Deep) and his servant.
NPCs still refuse to use the door. They prefer trying to walk through Helms Deep's wall to no avail.
Weird. I'll look for a fix.

I think it is because the author didn't give NPC permission to enter, so some simple coding would do the trick.
I just reinstalled Oblivion for the 50th time. I'm downloading OOO and The Unofficial Oblivion Patch now, should be done in...
...an hour and a half. :smith:
What are some good graphical enhancements? Right now I have Qarl's, AEVWD, and ENBSeries (which is a tad buggy, but nice). What are some others?
Update on the siege.
This time the entire horde attacked, we are currently holding them at the keep walls but they will break soon.
I have 30 men waiting to fight them when they break through.
Casualties:
4 Fighters Guild
3 Mages
4 Militia (Civilians with wapons)
2 Town Guard
3 Road guard
6 Travelers
1 Atronach
1 Imperial Legionnaire
1 Imperial Palace guard
1 Imperial forester
2 Imperial Rangers
3 Imperial Ranger's wolves
I only have ~30 more men. They are all ready to defend the keep, but I have a few Imperial Legion troops ready to guard the cavern entrance while we evacuate the civilians out.
I don't know where to go, my War Mammoth is dead and the only thing I have left for fast travel is a armored black horse.
I think we only killed around 20-25 zombies. There is a horde of 5000 attacking. We will not survive, but I can retreat to the Shivering Isles if need be. Then come back with an army and retake the world, hell thats a good idea! I'll leave Helms Deep by myself, go the the Shivering Isles and raise an army, come back and defeat the horde.

What if the zombies have infected SI? Can they do that? I'd imagine it would be just like walking through a door for them.
What about wellspring grove? There's only one way in there, and that's through wellspring cave. It's a raised island surrounded by water.
Also, how do you end up with a horde of 5K zombies without crashing so hard everything with a screen in your house, BSODs?

Got a new mod, it is faction based. It lets you summon troops, and with kab's multisummons I can get around 20 and whoever I got from SI.
I can probably summon an army's worth of soldiers and try to retake helms deep if I get enough horses for an epic cavalry charge.
And if you could provide a horse combat mod, i would appreciate it.

DR has horse combat, but it's hacky and only the PC can do it, not NPCs.

Get 300 guys in heavy armor and swords in there and make a last stand.
I was playing around today, when one of my companions kept acting up. He kept starting fights with my other companions, and every so often he would throw an anger fit and knock one of them out.
I brought him to the middle of the desert and disarmed him and myself of all armor and weapons. I got in a fistfight with him that lasted almost ten full minutes, with me getting my ass kicked by him. We started fighting on a small road in Elsweyr, but the fight moved to a cliff, then into a small river, and finally on the edge of the waterfall. I was badly hurt, and he kept knocking me down, as I was low on fatigue. Finally, I managed to push him back to the edge of the waterfall. I stunned him with a punch, and using a power attack, coupled with the Deadly Reflex mod, crushed his head, and sent him plummeting off the edge of the waterfall, into the river.
I'll have to remember to collect his enchanted bracers and the pieces of his skull from his headless body.
Can anyone recommend any good companion mods?
CM companions.
Well I tried holding Helms deep with a few ~150 createfullactorcopies of myself. We lasted about a ingame month.
