This is a popular myth I've seen for Oblivion and Stalker. While it maybe true for stalker because it auto patches to 1.5 ( and some mods require straight up 1.4 ), It's not true for Oblivion / fallout 3... You just will experience some annoyance when extracting things.
I thought there was a bunch of stuff that doesn't work with the Steam Oblivion because the .exe is encrypted?
It works just fine.

I think you may be thinking of the D2D version.

I just started a new character, after not playing for a couple of months. I also got a couple more mods. I made sure the load order is good and right, yet I still have a problem. Every time I press the tab key to bring up my inventory, the game freezes. Any ideas?

Originally Valve provided us with the D2D encrypted .exe, it was easier to maintain and shit on their end I suppose. All you had to do to fix it was use a no-cd decrypted .exe for your version of Oblivion. The only thing it broke was OBSE.
Bethesda addressed this and provided Valve with a new unecrypted .exe that still abides by the Steam DRM.
Well, I got Oblivion early, because I happened to look when the price randomly went down a notch. Played for nine consecutive (game) days, and I am really impressed by the draw distance.
Having some trouble with the inventory though. How do I zoom out of the character view and maps? I would like to see what my guy looks like at a distance, and also look for more places to go.
Scroll back.
Press c to zoom out in game, I dunno if you can zoom out in maps.

Anyone know where to get Oldblivion besides the main site for it? Whenever I try to DL it, my PC goes off about a Trojan in the file.
