I just got a new PC, finally able to play this. :smug:
If only the combat in this was combined with that of Dark Messiah, it would be so holy fucking awesome. Nonetheless, Oblivion is still great, and the number of mods available is quite staggering.

I like finding creative ways to kill the adoring fan.
I started playing oblivion for the first time last night, and got about 2 hours into it, only to notice that my birth sign was for magic..yet my class is warrior. I don't know what happened, but the birth sign makes me 100% weaker to magic (although it raises something else). I meant to pick the birth sign for warrior. I guess I should restart? I can barely make it through the Oblivion gate that you first enter. I'm thinking about being a warrior although using bows seems like it would be a good idea too. Any opinions? I like heavy armor and swords.

It's a little cheat-y but it beats restarting from scratch. And bows generally work best with a stealth character, without the sneak damage bonus you'll have to pepper enemies with arrows and it's a bit shit really. Unless you're playing on easy, in which case go for it.
I'm actually on 360 - I know it's not nearly as great as PC, but my PC cannot handle Oblivion. And thanks for the advice about bows. I guess I'll just stick to using a sword.
Oh, wow.
They turned it into Devil May Cry. It looks so funky, half of me wants to try it, the other half thinks it is absolutely stupid.

If you just do the guild-hall recommendation quests, you'll get into the University and you can create spells and enchant things. Enchant some armour with things like "Reflect Spell 30%" and try and stack them by enchanting multiple items - that way, you'll eventually reach "Reflect Spell 100%". Have fun watching everything zap itself with magic when you enter Oblivion.
this game is the greatest thing to grace this earth EVER.
Any up-to-date tutorial on how to install FCOM? The one I had only covered basics and had outdated links. Yellow exclamation marks everywhere :saddowns:

I seem to get so far then make another character everytime I play. I've never "beaten" this game yet. Damn my ADD
Is there a mod that changes the level-creature connection so that creature spawns are randomized? Such as Minotaurs while you're level 2, daedra spiders at level 5? Basically, instead of rats, bandits, and skeletons at level 1, there's minotaurs and stronger bandits and wraiths. Sorta like Fallout 3.

OOO does a lot of things, though. Should I try it? What does it include?
