I actually find Fallout3 to be a bit better, the combat does not feel as clunky and feels like I am actually shooting people.
If Oblivion had Dark Messiah's Combat I would be playing it 24/7 though. Nothing is really deep enough for a game of Oblivion's Length, it's like a really long pool that was only 2 feet deep.
The Quests don't have enough to them or any real options to how to do them.
I mean Fallout 3 has this issue too, but much less. I like both games but if I had to choose i'd pick F3.

The only thing bad about Oblivion is its combat system, which isn't horrible or anything, you have to remember that it's a sequel, and combat in Morrowind was horrible. a game that's played in First Person (Majority) shouldn't have a Dice Roll type of system. So Between Morrowind and Oblivion the difference is Night and Day and MUCH improved. The problem is, compared to say, Dark Messiah, it's lacking and dull. Deadly Reflexes helps add some variety and makes it much better, but it's still missing that Solid feeling to it
Oblivion is still a badass game, and my only real complaint is that its Third Person is kind of Meh, and in first person (Same with FO3 and Morrowind) it feels like a floating camera, there's no Head Bobbing or anything, just feels like you're in a Tram Car or something
Bethesda's not exactly great at making things looks good, but I guess to make games like this you gotta cut corners somewhere.

It actually is a floating camera with the arms of your third person persona with custom first person animations and your body disabled.
There is mods that add third person animations to first person, really adds alot of realism and headbobbing; than there is another mod that is full body so you can see your self and shit, but the full body one is slightly buggy and both mods do not work with deadly reflex.
I agree the combat feels watery and not solid, feels like I'm hitting their stats and not the person.
Doesn't look like Novak at all, I do approve of the Arrive by Ship start though

Can anyone help me with a problem I've been having? I've just reinstalled Oblivion, and I'm trying to use OOO and MMM's new beta patches, but whenever I do, the meshes or textures for the bow is missing and dead people have a green tint to them.
Should I just not use the beta patches, or does anyone else have a fix?
Could anyone help me out a bit here?
I just bought the Oblivon GOTY edition on steam, and I'm sick of guards telling me I've violated the law when I've stolen just a single goddamn goldpiece waaay out of sight of the guard.
So how would I go about setting up the No Psychic guards mod to work with steam?

Locate your Oblivion folder and just install it there.
Isn't it in steamapps/common or something?
Such a bother to install all the good mods again.

What? The game is beautiful, and considering that the game is quite old now I would say they did a bloody good job with the graphics.

This may or may not help, but I had a similar problem. After reloading and testing several times, I deduced that when I had my weapon drawn before the gate opened, it would stay closed. Before getting a match, keep your weapon sheathed until the announcer stops talking and the gate starts lowering.

Crap. I installed Obscuro's Oblivion Overhaul, and everything seems fine (for now) except for that all of the potions lost their models and inventory pictures. Does anybody use this mod and know how to fix it? I used manual install, by the way because I was too lazy to learn all the OMOD stuff.

There are be mods out there that let you change race mid-game, so you could change your current character to a Predator.
Or just use Showracemenu
Goddamn, it took me forever to install FCOM (I was following some shit instructions until I found this thread), but I just finished. Hope to play a dramatically different Oblivion.

Did you download the base files and not just the latest version (which is only a patch)? Many seem to make that mistake.
When I installed it I think I had the base files and 3 patches to install ontop.
