I have a shit voice but I would totally record dialogue for free, just for experience sake. :v:
AKA: Always wanted to be a voice actor, don't have the voice for it, will take anything I could get.
Reality is so cruel :v:
Seriously, who thought it was a good idea to pick up items with the "E" key?
I had to read this several times to make sure I comprehended it correctly.
You do know that the sole method of picking up items (health, weapons, and ammo alike) in Left 4 Dead and Left 4 Dead 2 is through the "e" key, right? Revelations didn't change a thing in that regard.

In my opinion, it's the same thing as people in cars.
Press releases and patch notes = honking a horn
Getting out of the car to confront the other driver = coming and posting on our forum.
Press releases have no emotion just like honking a horn as no emotion besides, "THE FUCK AY YA DOIN OVUH DERRR"

Yeah, but those items were supposed to be picked up so you could decide when to use them. Pills, medkits, you'd never pick them up if they immediately healed you.
In Revelations, they're the classic video-game "powerup" style pickups, where they immediately help you and there's no sense in not getting them. So, why should you have to activate them?

So, why should you have to activate them?
For the same reason weapon/item stay options exist in modern co-op games: so you don't inadvertently steal needed equipment from your teammates simply by accidentally walking over them. Left 4 Dead 1/2 and Revelations don't use that particular game mechanic, so it's entirely sensible to instead allow teams to share limited supplies by deliberately using items to acquire them.
And having survived the more difficult levels of Revelations (i.e. anything after the first one), I can tell you that picking up items becomes a bit of a strategic maneuver as you really need to time that ammo/health pickup precisely when you're being chased by a swarm of enemies.
Just imagine in half life 2, instead of just walking over a medkit and it instantly healing you, you had to stop and look at it and press E + you have to do the same with ammo.
You do have a point with the people stealing items, but still for example when you are playing on single player its pointless.
You know what i hate? the fact that interaction (the developers of chicken invaders) can't get on steam due to their team being too small at least that's what they think and then you come along with this piece of shit.

If a player is the kind of dick that steals items, it probably won't be an enjoyable experience in the first place. It only makes sense to consider counter-mechanics for these people as long as they don't negatively affect the experience of the "honest good guy".
The problem isn't really that you pick up items with E, it's that you have to do so very frequently and under fire which doesn't let you concentrate on your objective and breaks the flow. L4D2 had way fewer items lying around and "loadout sections" with little to no zombies bothering. This is also an excellent way of killing "combat fatigue". Let the player progress to a safe room, let them stock up on gear, maybe throw in a puzzle where they have to think a bit instead of shooting. Unless you're shoving your players in a skinner box or metagame, eliminating combat fatigue is a pretty important thing if your levels are lengthy.

I agree to that. After a 90 minutes long match on "Nation Red" I really feel exhausted with all this non-stop-action. And not in the good way, to say so. Even though it's fun, there comes a point when you simply want to say: "Hey, I need a break!" Just slow down for a moment, that's enough.
On the other hand, if you go into some full carnage-part, I think there should be quite more powerups, like bullet time, health boost, speed boost - things like that. Really speeds up and is very funny. Reminds me on an old Warcraft 3 Map I used to play - some kind of arena. You simply went on and on and on, picked up several different powerups and just crazed everything apart that was coming after ya. One hell of a trip, but very funny on the other hand.

That reminded me of serious sam, where after throwing hordes of enemies at you, that you had to survive only to be left with 10 health, you'd walk up to a +1 health pickup and it would spawn an even bigger horde of enemies than before.
Serious Sam is a dick game, but fucking fun.
Of course, this isn't Serious Sam.
Supermoose - I really gotta say that the german translations are either missing or completely screwed up. Who translated this? I'm laughing my ass off.
Edit
Finished the first Campaign. Things which I stumbled upon:
1.) Translations. Either missing, wrong or completely messed up. (German)
2.) Level Design. It's partly confusing and things are just wrong there. Why don't you give your players space to fight a mini boss? That's not nice and it's not fun to die. Also: Hordes of enemies don't work inside small floors. I can just stand there all day and hold my left mousebutton to solve this.
3.) The PRIEST. GOD FUCKING DAMNIT. Why the fuck is he following me all day long without even having some animation? And why doesn't he do shit and suddenly doubling himself? He just keeps my NPC-mates fully from fighting enemies. I don't want to see his stupid face in the portrait either.
4.) The system is too simple. Go there, find skull, go somewhere else and fight something off in between. You guys can do better!
5.) First campaign, two mini bosses - both the same. More variety, please. It may work for Left 4 Dead, but only because those special zombies will not show up in the HUD in a separate thing. They are also pretty different.
6.) The Mini Boss in the third level was stuck in the crystals. I could steal half his lifebar with ease.
7.) The Mini Boss hits Megan but deals damage to the priest. THE GLORIOUS FUCK IS HAPPENING
8.) Sound. You guys seriously need to do better here. Everything feels just dull and unimpressive.
9.) Enemies. While it was okay for the first campaign, show some variety. How about something different from all humanoid?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vision_Serpent
10.) No Subtitles? Well, I'm okay with that fact since I understand english, but what about those who have problems with it?
11.) I don't get a fucking clue how the weapon works. Leftclick -> Shoot, Rightclick -> Blade, Mouse button 3 -> rockets or something, I don't know. But how do I recharge that thing?
12.) I like the traps, really. They're a good way to make the game more interesting. But they are sometimes placed a bit odd - they don't fit in naturally - it's like the level is exactly built in a way so they can work. But they feel odd. And they don't do enough damage to frighten me enough. Make them more dangerous.
13.) Finally - IK. Also known as "OH LAWD WHAT THE HECK, I CANT BREATH" - He's a funny fella. But his attack system is too simple and he also doesn't resemble a deity of the wind, really. Strange helmet which would better fit at a mongol or viking, but certainly not maya. Also: Soundeffects.

same with almost every translation.
same with almost every translation.
Well, if that's a point where I can help, I surely will.
Devs have admitted to using translation software to translate the achievements (and probably everything else in-game too).
It doesn't affect me personally because even though I'm German my Steam is set to English and I play all my Games in English.
Also there is no need to apologize to me, because I didn't buy the game! I just noticed it here and pointed it out is all.
Still a bit weird to me that they released the game in it's current state, admit to all their mistakes and now ask the customers (or just people who have heard of the game like me) for help in fixing the game. (also it's unclear to me if the people helping them are supposed to do it for free, even though this isn't some free mod and the devs would benefit financially in the product being better)

That's a good question. I could only speculate about the nature of this, but I think that's unnecessary. And while I think everyone needs a second chance, I'm willing to help out.

Oh right, I finally got my "review" up now that I have a working computer again.

Two things I failed to mention in the video (along with another 10 minutes I could have spent ranting about this game but cut myself short due to length issues):
The positive of them cutting the price in half for this game. And on the flip side, the fact that the first time I played I was beyond confused as to why I couldn't fire my weapon. Turns out they didn't have the primary fire bound to anything. HOW DOES THIS HAPPEN?

Is the correct way of saying that "I couldn't care less" ?
