Well obviously a Source game would be compatible with a Source map, it's just that we don't have all the assets necessary for mapping completely with CS:GO.
Have you ever tried importing a Half-Life 2 Map into Left 4 Dead, or a Left 4 Dead map into Garrysmod? The map versions are different. But GO accepts all map versions.
GO uses the latest Source version (Portal 2) so that is why.
I thought it used the L4D2 Engine.
it uses the l4d2 engine.
-snip nevermind-
it uses the l4d2 engine.
Oh
The negev is godly
Tec-9 is pretty good.
I have an extra 2 DOTA gifts if anyone wants to trade a CSGO gift with me :3
Tec-9 is pretty good.
is this a joke
it uses the l4d2 engine.
I recall reading the same thing initially, but looking into it now it seems more widely reported that CS:GO is built upon the Portal 2 version of Source. For example, Eurogamer states this in two separate articles by two different authors:
CS: GO is based on the Portal 2 version of Source, and requires DirectX 9 only.

Faliszek said CS: GO was based on the Portal 2 version of Source, and requires DirectX 9 only.

Just found some map names on the steam translation server. And this... SFUI_MainMenu_TickerText Message of the Day: 50% off all Avatar Gear in Marketplace! SFUI_MainMenu_Loadouts LOADOUTS And... females? SFUI_ST6_Female_Name Special Response Team
The maps and females look like the best part of this leak. The store and loadouts? jeeze i sure hope this wont go to the point of being TF2 2: Counter-Stricken.
The store and loadouts? jeeze i sure hope this wont go to the point of being TF2 2: Counter-Stricken.
The Marketplace refers to Avatar gear in the XBox Live Marketplace, as has been stated. I don't really see a problem with loadouts, it's good to be able to instantly select your favorite arsenal instead of buying it item by item every time. Also, de_vertigo? HELLL YEEEAAAAH, also it's always good to see more AR maps.
oh god what female Navy SEALs
I hope cs_siege returns. It being an "awp whore" map is a common complaint, but I think the scope blur would mitigate that somewhat and make it less monotonous.
Well obviously a Source game would be compatible with a Source map, it's just that we don't have all the assets necessary for mapping completely with CS:GO.
different versions of the source engine generally come with updates to the map format, subtle differences, but generally you can't just swap maps between games that run on different engine versions
is this a joke
I got quite some kills with it.
different versions of the source engine generally come with updates to the map format, subtle differences, but generally you can't just swap maps between games that run on different engine versions
Old maps always work on newer engines though, just new maps don't work on old engines because Valve changes the BSP version all the time.
-snip- Okay, enough with the barrage of boxes.
I got quite some kills with it.
against bots perhaps?
I've tested some custom maps modified for CS:GO, such as: awp_map aim_map available on csbanana. But I can't get people to join me via "Quick Match" in any way. Sure, I had to modify the gamemodes.txt file to set parameters for bots and round time, etc, since I could only add 1 bot to the game with the default file. Also, props to the guys who designed the bots. There's a weird shooting algorithm implemented. I've even created a mouse macro that emulates the shots. My accuracy is now over 70%.
so is there a way to get a key without waiting every friday for crushing disappointment or paying 40$ for a beta key on ebay. because i played this at pax east and i want more of ittt
nope you can wait like the rest of us
40$ on ebay is overkill. You can get it cheaper via steam forums or with tf2 items, if you got promo/keys. That's what I did, but I hate this game...
So many people don't like CS:GO. For a closed beta. It is pretty amazing. Feels like different... but the same.

I wish they'd bring CS_Siege for CS:GO
I wouldn't call it stupid, just excessive. But seeing as how most games nowadays need more resources I can forgive 1.6 players for having such hardware.
That wasn't the point at all. PRO CS 1.6 players does need a new game if they want to continue making that much money on it. Seriously.
Ok since i'm getting really desperate to get my friend a key, ill give 3 dota 2 invites for one.

SFUI_ST6_Female_Name Special Response Team
This is barely a leak, it's already in the game files. You can check it out yourself. The translation files for CSGO were simply not updated for a long, long time so they just added everything that wasn't there.
