Having the game + SDK would really make me want to map for Source again... Too bad that they seem to deem me to be not worthy.
I just made my first cs:go map, but there seems to be a problem, every time I'm playing as a ct, terrorists appear as those red error models and I can seem to add more than one bots to the game even though I have more than one spawn points for both teams, please help.
What's with the new SE maps?
What's with the new SE maps?
Its just the "pro" version of maps, with alot of details removed to stick to a simplistic style for competitive gamers.
Well that's dumb. Pros all play older versions of CS

Think they are either low memory use maps or something. They don't have props.
This week’s update includes de_dust2_se. You will be able to access it through the map command “map de_dust2_se” in the console. This is a version of Dust2 with the fog off, props removed, cables removed, and particle effects removed. It was created especially for pro-competitive play and leagues.
what does SE stand for?
simplistic edition?
Special Edition.
dunno
sports edition maybe, since it's for "pro-competitive play and leagues" (aka so-called "E-Sports")
I watched my friend play CS:GO and I must say that it's extremely pretty, kind of surprising it's on source really. Just goes to show the source engine isn't dead just yet.
Why would the Source Engine be dead. Did you miss L4D, L4D2, and Portal 2?
I don't know exactly why, but I really like the character modeling style Valve adopted these years, they look somewhat artistic.

I got a question. I try to add bots through the console but it doesn't seem to work. Is there any way to test custom maps with bots yet?
I still think that CSGO is absolutely wonderful looking, I love how it doesn't try to go for the super realistic "tacticool" look

Aside from the fact that the post-processing (which we'll hopefully be able to disable in options in the final game) makes it seem a bit too grey, I wholeheartedly agree.
Hm, when I try to connect to a game, or find a game. CS:GO just shuts down without any error directly. Anybody know why?
Shirky you don't have a key yet?
Sadly not by the look of those image names and models.
Really sad, I would love to see that map with cascaded shadows and some of the newer textures.

Still no key, Im working in L4D2 right now.
if this thread strictly for cs go or can i post css content as well?

Well I hope you get one soon, Valve needs to add more people willing to actually map to the beta
So I got the SDK
now what
Make maps.
I don't know how.

I guess I'll sift through the model viewer to see what kind of stuff is hidden
Dev commentary might be included.
CS:S style hostages are in, although they look a bit newer.
There's bodygroups on the Seal-Team 6 models (torso and helmet), is this a hint towards cosmetic customization?
There's a mapping forum here on FP, the guys there can help you start out.

There's also this basic tutorial: https://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/Your_First_Map
I'd prefer if I have someone teach me personally because instructions never seemed to have worked for me.

Thanks, really looking forward to start mapping.
Plenty of good youtubers who have done some video tutorials you can start there. (Like that one guy who teaches you to use Carve for landscape!).
I'd map, but I don't know shit about good level design.
